Recent Beauty Purchases: YSL, Shu Uemura, Laura Mercier, Chantecaille, Sephora, Caudalie, Diptyque

I am trying to think of an excuse for all my recent purchases, but... I can't think of anything :) haha. I simply couldn't resist placing a couple of orders online. I have been lusting after the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, Diptyque Baies Candle and Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers for months (maybe years), so I finally bought them :) I purchased some other bits as well and... I also got my mitts on a beautiful Sephora Highlighter!

Ebay Bargain: Crystal Statement Necklace

Most of you know that I am obsessed with statement necklaces. After a big clear out, I managed to reduce the amount of them to just over 100 different styles, but... I simply can't stop buying more. I love them!!! Most of them are quite cheap though, so it isn't a big problem :) haha. My latest find is this beautiful (and cheap) crystal necklace.

Dare To Bare Campaign - Support Breast Cancer Care in October

In October, Escentual.com and Breast Cancer Care have joined forces to launch an amazing #DareToBare Campaign to get women go to work with no makeup to raise money for charity. I work from home, so it is quite an easy task for me, but... surprisingly the urge of putting makeup on is stronger than I thought :)  The campaign will run throughout October and you can take part by:

- donating via one of the pages on Just Giving
- creating your own fund raising page and joining the team.
- tweeting a 'selfie' with no makeup on to @escentualdotcom and/or @BCCare using the hashtag #DareToBare
Escentual will be donating £1 for the first 1,000 women who tweet their #DareToBare photo, so please, please, please take part :)
-buying one of 5 top rated skincare products from Escentual - 10% of the proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Care

All proceeds from the campaign go towards women suffering from breast cancer, so it would be amazing if you could donate, even if it's just £1. It only takes a minute and you can use PayPal
You can read more about the campaign here.

You can help me raise my small £100 target HERE and I would really appreciate it, if you could spread the word about the campaign. It is such a great cause.

How To Find More Time For Reading

How much do you read these days? How much did you use to read? If you read a lot more in the past and you’re not reading all that much now, it could be because you’re busy and just don’t have the time for your books anymore, no matter how much you love them.

Bourjois Color Edition 24h Eyeshadows and new Color Boost Lip Crayon shade

Oh Bourjois, I can't even begin to describe how much I love you! I couldn't wait for the release of Color Edition 24h Eyeshadows and I am also very excited to see more shades added to the Color Boost Lip Crayon range . I am in love with the Autumnal shades of the eyeshadows and the lip colour I was kindly sent couldn't be more A/W appropriate.

Elf Highlighters and Blushers: reviews + swatches

I recently placed a little e.l.f. order and it consisted of some highlighting products and blushers. Let's just say that I have a highlighter obsession and my collection got slightly out of control :) haha. I just love a bit of shimmer. I bought two of the Allover Colour Sticks, two Shimmering Facial Whips and two Baked Blushers. If you follow me on instagram, you will know that some products were disappointing and some were absolutely gorgeous.  I also accidentally found dupes for MAC Mineralize Skin Finishes in Soft & Gentle and Stereo Rose!

What Mistakes Do You Need To Avoid When You’re Making Your Home Worth More?

Although you might not think about it because you’re happy to just live in your home and enjoy it, the fact is that property is always an investment, and you’ll want it to be worth more when you’re done with it than it was when you bought it, and that’s true whether you want to pass it on to other family members, sell it, or just use the equity you’ve built up in it to make improvements, for example.

There are dozens of things you can do to your home to make it worth more, but there are also lots of mistakes you can make that can actually devalue the property. With that in mind, here are some of the biggest mistakes to avoid so you can get the most value out of your home.

3 Easy Ways To Look After Your Health

Everyone knows they need to look after their health, but few people actually put the time and effort into it. They often believe it’ll take a lot of time and effort, and some people don’t even know how to do it.

If you want to look after your health, you shouldn’t have to worry about that. It’ll be easier than you’d think, and shouldn’t even have to take a lot of time. Starting with a few easy strategies could be all you’ll need. It’s worth taking a look at three of these.

Throwing The Ultimate Event? Everything You Need To Know

Image source - pixabay - cco license

We all love to throw a party or have a great dinner party every once in a while. Some people choose to have small intimate affairs. Where the detail is in the food and the good company you keep. Others choose to host more people and turn the celebration into an event or party, where every need is catered for. Or you may be somewhere in the middle. However, no matter how big or small your event, birthday party, or dinner party is, we all tend to have to go through the same steps to get from the planning to the implementation stage. I wanted to share with you some of the things you could consider if you are about to embark on the planning of an event very soon. I hope this helps you put it all in top perspective and enables you to create the perfect event.

New Bedroom Decor: Yellow, Grey and White

I mentioned in some of my previous posts, that I redecorated our master bedroom, but still had some work to do. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to change the colour of the walls or the flooring yet, but... if we decide to stay here for longer than 6 months, I will paint the wall light grey and get gorgeous white wood flooring. Anyway... Here is the bedroom after a little makeover. I will make sure to list everything I bought :)

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Candle Review

Candles are something I absolutely adore. I always have. I remember being told off for burning candles as a teenager, because my room was full of them. I secretly dreamed about marrying someone who shares my love for candles, but unfortunately... my husband isn't a fan, unless it is a simple vanilla, or cinnamon scent. Well... I will just enjoy my candles alone :) When I found out that Aromatherapy Associates are bringing back their candles, I  was very excited, especially about the Revive one. Their Revive range is my favourite.

Bloom & Wild Flowers - Delivered Through Your Letterbox

I couldn't believe my eyes, when I saw this 60cm long box pop through my letterbox. Literally! I am not even kidding! I was kindly sent the flowers by Bloom & Wild, a brand new subscription service, offering fresh flower deliveries through your letterbox. Sounds crazy and amazing, doesn't it?

Genetic Testing: Why It's Important

When it comes to your health, you should never turn down the opportunity for genetic testing. There are so many benefits here, whether the results are positive or negative for a gene mutation that you have asked your doctor to look for, test results give you a sense of relief from any uncertainty you may have been dealing with.

And if you are living with family members who have experienced Alzheimer's, dementia or even Huntington's disease, then genetic testing can tell you a lot about yourself and your future. Negative results can eliminate the need for any unnecessary screenings or checkups, which is always a good thing, and a positive result can help you towards going down the road of prevention monitoring and any further treatment options. A cancer gene test can give you insight and help you to prepare for any future possibilities. Any gene testing is going to give you a window into your future. Let’s take a look at how genetic testing can be useful:

Marc Jacobs Honey EDP Review

I can't even describe how much I love the design of Marc Jacobs Honey EDP. It is beautiful, unique, fun and interesting. I also adore the colour combination, as it goes with my  new yellow, grey and white bedroom decor ;) I realise that some might find it tacky, but I am in love. What about the fragrance itself?

Home Decor: Why I love wood flooring...

I really love the look of wooden flooring and since we moved to a house with carpets in every room, I can't stop thinking about all the pros of having laminate. It is very easy to keep clean, more friendly for those with allergies and... it simply looks better in my opinion.

Lash Boutique False Eyelashes Review

I love false lashes and I started wearing them regularly, after a long break. I tried the Rapid Lash Serum to make my natural lashes longer, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. Thankfully, the choice of falsies on the market is amazing and the good quality ones are very easy to apply and super comfortable. My latest discovery in the falsies department is a brand called Lash Boutique. I was kindly sent some of their lashes to try out and I am very impressed.

Sigma Creme De Couture Macaroon Inspired Palette Review, Swatches and Makeup Look

Let's be honest - most of us always stick to neutral colours and our everyday eye makeup consists of various brown/muted gold shades or a simple flick of black liner. Sigma Creme De Couture  Palette is the total opposite of what I usually go for, but I love to experiment with unusual colours and makeup looks, so I was happy to give it a go.

Guest post: Why Autumn is the Perfect Time For a Spa Break

Now that the leaves are starting to fall and the shops are full of stylish coats and cosy jumpers, it is the ideal time to prepare for the cold winter months with some self-indulgent pampering. And what better way to do this than to head off for a spa weekend?

Rapid Lash Eyelash Enhancing Serum Review

I always wanted to try an eyelash enhancing serum, but I didn't really know what to expect from this kind of product. Some of the reviews and before and after photos I googled, were amazing, but... I knew that it might not work for me. My verdict?

September Favourites

There are many products I have been loving this month, but I managed to narrow it down to a nice little selection :) As per usual, it is a mixture of makeup, nail, body and skincare products, featuring some new additions and things I rediscovered after a long break. Let's get started.

Clarins Extra Comfort Foundation & Instant Concealer - review and swatches

Just when I thought that I can't love Clarins more than I already do, they brought out the most amazing foundation and concealer. I am absolutely blown away by both products and I have been reaching for them a lot in September. I love everything about them - the formula, the finish and the way they feel on my skin.

'Feeling Blue'

This post was supposed to be about a big selection of electric blue accessories, but the items I ordered from ebay haven't arrived :( The replacements are on their way, but I will have to wait another 3-4 weeks for them. I decided to prepare a blue themed post anyway and... I couldn't resist a matching electric blue manicure.

Health Tips for a Healthy Heart

One of the most important things that you can do for your health is to look after your heart. You only get one of these unless you need a transplant and it’s vital that you care enough for your heart health to avoid needing one of those.

The pandemic has overshadowed the importance of heart health as we focused on respiratory health, and while we may be in the tail end of the pandemic right now, and it's not as prevalent as it was, knowing which angina treatment is available to you is so important if you are coping with a new diagnosis. You need to take better care of your heart, and that means understanding what steps you can take to make sure that your heart health is in tip top condition. Let's take a look at some of those healthy tips for a healthy heart that you need.

CK One Eye Shadows- Review and Swatches

CK One Eye Shadows* (£12.00 each)

I love eye shadows and they take up about 40% of my makeup storage, so I was very excited to give the CK One beauties a go. The packaging is unique, yet very simple and the colours are absolutely gorgeous! I was kindly sent a couple of shades to try out and I am very impressed.

Autumn Eye Shadow Palettes: Urban Decay, The Balm, Clarins, Barry M, MUA, Laura Mercier, Eye Of Horus

Autumn is probably my favourite 'makeup season' and as soon as the weather becomes a bit chilly, I find myself reaching for eye shadow palettes on a daily basis. They all deserve more love and I always  feel horrible about neglecting them (a tiny bit) in Spring/Summer. I went through my eye shadow stash and picked some gorgeous palettes with earthy, brown and golden shades. I love warm eyes in Autumn, especially with a touch of burgundy or green.

The Repurchase: Origins Super Spot Remover Review

I very rarely repurchase skincare products, but a couple of gems made it to my 'repurchase list' and I simply can't live without them. I was asked to review the Origins Super Spot Remover by some of my readers, so I thought that starting a new series of posts, about some fab products I repurchased is a great idea.

Debenhams styling challenge: OOTD under £100

More mens fashion? Well, we were asked to take part in another great challenge and we couldn't say no. This time, the task was to style a full outfit under £100, taking advantage of Debenhams sales

Lancome Hydra Zen Gift Set Review

Lancôme used to be my go to brand when I first started using more expensive skincare and makeup and I still use some of their products regularly. My favourites include their Teint Miracle Foundation and Bi-Facil Make-up Remover. I was recently sent the Hydra Zen Gift Set* (£38.00) to try out and all the products left me quite impressed. I might become a Lancome addict again :)

Take a look through them below and see if they can change your plans for the year!

Shades Of Green A/W Fashion Challenge

When I was asked to take part in 'How To wear A/W 2013' challenge, I couldn't say no. The five categories included: Shades of Green, Statement Outerwear ,Winter White, Grungey Plaid  and Classic Patterns. As you can see, I was assigned to the Shades Of Green category. I thought it was going to be easy, but I spent hours in high street shops, trying to put the £80 budget to good use and plan my three outfits.  I bought three main pieces and some accessories and my total came to £63. I am quite impressed actually. The idea was to make the new pieces work with what you already have in your wardrobe. Here is what I bought:

Recent Beauty Purchases: Bourjois, Nuxe, Nails Inc, Bumble and Bumble, Origins, Liz Earle

I am trying to be sensible with money, but I couldn't resist a couple of bargains. I also had to stock up on some essentials, like Bourjois Nail Polish Remover, Healthy Mix Foundation, Origins Super Spot Remover and Liz Earle Eyebright Lotion. I bought most of the products online, but I managed to pick up a couple of things from Boots and Superdrug as well.
