Guest post: Why Autumn is the Perfect Time For a Spa Break

Now that the leaves are starting to fall and the shops are full of stylish coats and cosy jumpers, it is the ideal time to prepare for the cold winter months with some self-indulgent pampering. And what better way to do this than to head off for a spa weekend?

In fact of all the seasons, autumn is the best time to enjoy a spa weekend. Spring and summer are usually dedicated to getting beach ready for upcoming holidays, while in winter any thoughts of having to wear a swimsuit, or worse a bikini, are filled with fear. But right now you’ve yet to gain the extra winter weight, but don’t have to worry about any upcoming beach holidays. In short, it is a perfect time to spend a weekend of pure pampering and relaxation.

And it’s good for you too! Taking time out to relax is one of the most important ways of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. There is now research that linksobesity to lack of sleep, and high stress and anxiety levels are known to impact on the ability to get a good night’s sleep. Even if you don’t have a high-stress job, just juggling work, social lives and family commitments can leave you drained after a while.

Now that the weather is turning colder and cold and flu viruses are starting to make their yearly rounds, it is even more important to take care of your health. Of course, eating properly and exercising regularly is important, but so is finding time to enjoy a bit of pampering and relaxation. Spending a day or two at a spa will help your mind and body recharge, ready to face the hectic social schedule and manic shopping trips that the build-up to Christmas brings.

Fortunately, there are no shortages of spas to choose from. From swanky city centre spas to boutique hotels in the countryside, finding your ideal spa weekend won’t be a problem. Those on tight budgets can always booked themselves in for a spa day, and as there are lots on offers on you’ll be bound to find one in your price range. However, if possible try and get away for a whole weekend. There is nothing better than after a long day of lying by a pool and indulging in massages and facials to then enjoy a meal, some drinks and a night away from home.

If you have children consider finding a babysitter and spending the weekend with your partner. Think of it as a short holiday together, but one that will cost a lot less money. It will not only give you a chance to unwind by booking into a country retreat will also enable you to spend some romantic, quality time together. Alternatively, get a few of your friends together and head off for a weekend of fun and pampering.

Soon the clocks will go back and the dark mornings and long nights will set in, along with the cold winter weather, so what better time to head off for a relaxing spa weekend than now?
