Building my first MAC palette!

I always promise myself to stop spending money on makeup, but there are things I have been meaning to buy for a long time and a MAC palette is one of them. It isn't a cheap treat, because once it is full it will cost me a total of over £170, but... I really think it is worth investing in. My  MAC eye shadow wish list is really long, but I thought I should start with four Autumn appropriate colours.

I was thinking about building two quads, but I ended up buying the Pro Palette (£14.00) and an Insert (£6.50) to hold 15 eye shadows. I already know that it will be full soon, because I just can't have it half empty :) haha.

L:R: All That Glitters, Amber Lights, Antiqued, Cranberry

After looking at hundreds of MAC swatches online and asking fellow bloggers for recommendations, I decided to buy:
All That Glitters - light beige with a veluxe pearl finish -perfect highlight for those who like it to look quite subtle.
Amber Lights- a gorgeous warm gold with a frost finish - it looks amazing with brown eyes.
Antiqued- a warm coppery brown with a veluxe pearl finish
Cranberry - burgundy shade with red undertones and a frost finish - perfect for Autumn.

I am very pleased with the formula of all the eye shadows I bought and I can definitely see a difference in the quality, compared to the shades I got in my MAC Fabulousness Palette. The pigmentation is amazing, they are creamy, luxurious, easy to blend and stay on my lids all day! I am very impressed and glad that I gave MAC another chance.

If you want to start building your first MAC palette or add some gorgeous, wearable colours to you collection, I would definitely recommend the shades I picked up. I was naughty and ordered three more (Sumptuous Olive, Club and Nylon), but I will talk about them another time :)

Please let me know what your favourite MAC eye shadows are. I would love to hear your recommendations and it would really help me decide what to get next.

  3. I really love Rule at the moment. Its a gorgeous autumnal orange and not many people opt for it as its a little different. I also love Colbalt and am looking for 2 more to go with Colbalt and Nocturnelle so if I find another that I love as much as these, i'll let you know! I really love the look of Cranberry though - think i may have to buy another quad (or maybe a duo) and get that as a treat ;)

  14. This is such a good idea, there is always a few colours in a palette that will never get used, so it is worth the money for sure. Gorgeous shades too.
