Last weekend we were kindly invited to celebrate the 10th birthday of COSMO in Silverburn, Glasgow. The buffet offers an impressive all-you-can-eat experience with a wide variety of dishes from around the world, and there is something for everyone. The kids really enjoy the wide selection of food, and desserts, and for the 10th birthday, they had cool attractions, including Bluey (so cute!), other fun activities, and a magician who performed tricks at our table.
First of all, the decor is really nice and modern, and the restaurant feels very welcoming and cosy. We were greeted by wonderful staff, and seated very close to all the food. We had really easy access, but the layout is very well thought out, so there is plenty of space for everyone to get their food and walk around freely from their table to the buffet section. The selection of food spans from Chinese & Indian to Continental, Deli and traditional British. There is also a sushi bar, teppanyaki, a section with noodle soups etc, and a huge dessert section. The food is made fresh, most of it right in front of you. I was watching the chefs make sushi and pizzas etc. The atmosphere was great and the place was spotless, despite it being very busy for the birthday celebrations. Did I mention there was birthday cake? Yes, of course there was cake!
The prices vary, depending on the time of day/week, from £8.99 per child (under 155cm) and £15.99 per adult for a weekday lunch, to £11.99 per child and £22.99 per adult on a Saturday. Pretty good for unlimited food, and a choice of over 150 dishes!
COSMO charge £2.99 for bottomless drinks (from soda machines), which range from Lemonade and Cola, to Irn Bru (Scottish must have!) and other flavour options. I found the drinks really tasty, unlike in a few other places I've tried in the past. I also ordered two of their cocktails from the Drinks Menu - Passionfruit Martini and a Strawberry Daquiri, both absolutely delicious!
Now let's get into the photos and more details.
Let's start with the salad bar. We have Ceasar, Coleslaw, Greek and a selection of veg and sauces.
Right by the salad, there's a deli/seafood section with a selection of cold seafood and meats, plus prawn cocktail and edamame beans.
Next, we have the Sushi Bar. It is definitely a highlight for me. From veggies rolls, to seafood and chicken. I always go for veggie with lost of pickled ginger and sweet chilli sauce. Yuuum. All freshly made right in front of you!
Mia is a sushi lover too, so she really, really enjoyed it.
Next, we have the Teppanyaki and BBQ section, where you can ask the chef to grill fresh seafood and meat for you. Mia tried the salmon and loved it.
The pizza counter offers freshly made pizza, straight from a woodfired oven. Perfect for pizza lovers.
The noodle soup bar has a variety of soups/broths, veggies and meats you can choose to add to your bowl. I didn't have the space to try this section, but next time I definitely will. I love ramen!
You can also make your own crispy pork/duck or vegetable rolls with plum sauce. There's also a selection of gyoza and dim sum. I tried the veg gyoza and dim sum and it was lovely. There was even a sweet custard dim sum, but the rest is all savoury.
The next section is the roast dinner/traditional Britsh food. Your typical Sunday roast. Potatoes, Yorkshire Puddings, veggies, meat, gravy etc. Not sure, if there were any meatless options here, but we didn't try anything from this section.
The continental section is an extension of the roast dinner one, where you can get things like mac & cheese, mashed potato, brussel sprouts, pigs in blankets. There's also spaghetti bolognese.
The biggest and most popular section is the Asian cuisine. From Chinese classics, to your favourite Indian curries. There are delicious stir fries, noodles, veggies and rice. Lots of Chinese sauces: curry, sweet chilli, black bean chicken etc. A really big selection. Sides like prawn toast, crackers, spring rolls, salt & chilli chips etc. In the Indian section, there was a big selection of curries, rice, biryani, sides like chicken pakora, onion bhajis, samosas, freshly made naans, doner meat, poppadoms, spiced onions, chickpea dishes etc. A really big selection overall, replenished regularly. Lots of veggie options here, even a yummy veg & beancurd stir fry - so good!
Now onto every kids dream section - Desserts! The options are endless. From ice cream and cakes, to a chocolate fountain, gummies, marshmallows and candy. And a fresh fruit salad bar as well. Sugar coma guaranteed :) haha.
Now let's look at some of the plates we made. I didn't take photos of every plateful, as it was impossible to keep up with kids chicken nugget and chips rotation :) But be assured, your beige food lovers will be catered for with a selection of kids dinner favourites.
As mentioned earlier, the 10th Birthday celebration included lots of attractions and we were lucky to get a magician show us some cool tricks at the table.
I really enjoyed the Passionfruit Martini and Strawberry Daquiri. You can order these to your table from the Drinks menu, at an extra charge of course. There is a full bar for those who enjoy alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, from wines and beer to fancy cocktails and mocktails.
We had an amazing time at COSMO Silverburn and we will definitely be back. So many options and everything was really fresh and tasty. My only complaint would be the lack of vegetable pakora, which is my absolute favourite. But I had so many other amazing dishes, I left soooo satisfied and full, I needed a nap after :) haha. The kids and Scott absolutely loved it too, and they cannot wait to go back. Perfect for families and friends who can't choose just one cuisine, and love a proper meal out.
Have you tried COSMO yet?
