Lifestyle & Fitness Update

The title of this post might be slightly misleading, as my fitness levels at the moment are absolutely ridiculous, but I am trying to get back into a routine and here's a little update.

I spent most of my pregnancy on my butt, with minimal exercise due to SPD and after having a c-section, I fell of the wagon totally. While pregnant, I ate really healthy meals and watched my diet, so I only put on around 5lbs. 2 weeks after having Mia, I was 2 stone lighter than before I fell pregnant! I was ecstatic and felt like a new person!

Unfortunately, as the months went on, I found myself becoming extremely hungry. Apparently it's normal when you're breastfeeding. Without realising, I quickly put the 2 stone back on and I am devastated. I know it's just weight, but I feel like I wasted my chance to get back to my pre-babies size 12-14. Sooo annoying... But I only have myself to blame for it.

I have been spending 90% of my time with Mia glued to me/my boob, watching TV series, editing photos, replying to emails, writing content and drinking copious amounts of decaf tea. Usually accompanied by something sweet. I swear, I never used to drink so much tea, but I think I am constantly thirsty due to breastfeeding, so on top of my water intake, I needed extra tea :) And speaking of TV shows, I am glad PLL is back and I also binge watched Making a Murderer recently.

Sleep hasn't been great, despite Mia being quite a good sleeper. She never actually properly wakes up at night and there is no screaming etc. She simply wants some boobie time 2-3 times per night (which is exoected when breastfeeding) and feeds with her eyes closed, all happy and content. It's adorable and I love it.

To help me sleep a bit better, I have been drinking Clipper Sleep Tea and using This Works Sleep products, I was kindly sent in a little hamper by Silentnight, along with the cute cuddly hippo :) Not gonna lie, Zachary claimed him and he sleeps in his bed. My dreams are always crazy (like, seriously crazy!) so the dream dictionary and dream journal came in handy too. PS. If you have intense dreams, like me, Silentnight have a page all about the meaning of dreams here.

I've been trying to spend more time outside with the  kids as well and I can't wait to start some walks with Mia in the baby carrier and Zachary by my side, when the weather is a bit warmer. I think it will make a big difference in the way I feel at the moment.

And to help me feel more comfy on said walks, I have a new pair of trainers* by Daniel Footwear in a crazy reptile skin effect. I needed something darker than my other trainers (pink and purple) to go with my usual black attire and this design is just perfect and very on trend (not that I follow trends). These feel very luxurious and are well made, so they should be pretty durable. This particular design is meant to be great for running as well, which is great because we just bought a treadmill - YAAAAY! I am telling you - 2016 is my year!

I am starting slowly, with walks outside and speed walking on the treadmill, but once my weight is acceptable for running, I will start running as well. Exciting!

I haven't made any resolutions or set a target weight, but I am just hoping to slowly get back to normal. No excuses!
