Guest Post: Get Set for Summer 2013 with 7 Fashion Tips

Hi everyone! I have a guest post for you today. I hope you like it :)

"Believe it or not, summer is just around the corner. Despite the extended winter we’ve just endured, along with the rather chilly start to the spring, May is finally here and we are well on our way to the summer season.

UK Weather Forecast’s summer 2013 predictions are for slightly drier days than we saw in 2012, but with slightly lower temperatures, so you might want to invest in a few good cardigans to throw over your outfit if you want to keep the chill off your shoulders.

Whatever the weather does, there’s no excuse for being off trend this season. With plenty of options in both warm and cool weather clothing, there are bags of opportunities to look bang on-trend throughout the summer months. Here are some top tips for bringing your style up to date for the coming season.

1. It’s all white: White is usually avoided by most people or else it’s one of those colours reserved for special occasions, but this season it’s here with a vengeance. Go for a generously proportioned white maxi-dress, teamed with a cropped denim jacket, or choose a loose shirt dress, nipped in at the waist with a funky belt.

2. Stripe it lucky: From Giles to Marc Jacobs, all the designers are cashing in on big, bold stripes, and not where you’d expect to see them either. Think chunky striped leggings with an oversized graphic tee, rather than those naval sweaters of five years ago.

4. Blinding brights: The pretty pastels that rocked the summer last year have evolved into blisteringly bright colours for 2013. Block colours and neon shades look set to be a regular feature of the summer wardrobe, so pick hot pink, lime green and electric blue to be hip this season.

5. Metallic masterpieces: From feminine frocks to brocade jackets, every style you can think of has had a metallic makeover this year. For the most wearable styles, avoid the blunt palette of silver and gold, and instead focus on the pastel metallic for a softer, more flattering shade.

6. From Asia with love: The catwalks have been rife with kimono sleeves, origami pleats and obi sashes this year, so expect to see some Asian-influenced designs in the shops in time for summer. Rock the style with delicately embroidered wrap-around dresses with kimono sleeves.

7. Sun ahoy: Whether Mr Blue Sky decides to put in an appearance or not, your summer wardrobe will not be complete this year without an investment in some seriously cool sunglasses. The big ones are still in, or the more daring of you can go for a statement pair in one of this seasons bold or neon colours. "
