Cirque Du Soleil Ovo at Glasgow SSE Hydro

A few weeks ago, I was kindly invited to see Cirque Du Soleil's OVO at SSE Hydro in Glasgow and I thought I would share some of the photos and my thoughts and feelings about this incredible show, as you can still see them in the UK till the end of October!

First of all, let's not make assumptions about the name Cirque Du Soleil. Yes, it means Circus Of The Sun, but it is not a traditional circus (definitely no animals involved!). It's a much more modern approach and it's more of a theatrical masterpiece! I've always wanted to see one of their shows and when the day finally came - it was everything I have hoped for and more!

Ovo is based around  a colourful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. From energetic red ants playing with their food, to captivating spiders and butterflies flying above your head. The skills of the performers will honestly take your breath away and you will be left amazed with the capabilities of the human body! Simply incredible! There is a quirky storyline throughout the show as well and we laughed so much, which was something I didn't expect at all, but it was a nice surprise.

Ovo captures so many emotions as well, it's a rollercoaster! From the hilarity of some of the insects who are playful and very engaged with the audience, to moments of love and affection with magical music. It's actually hard to describe how amazing the show is, you just have to experience it for yourself.

The most fascinating part for me was the abilities of the contortionist and when she put her whole body weight solely on her mouth, with her legs over her head. I couldn't believe my eyes! (photo above). She was incredible!

The other highlight for me was the music and the stunning voice of the singer Júlia Tázie. I can't get her voice out of my head, it is very unique and gives me goose bumps! It made the show even more mesmerising.

Overall, it was an incredible, unforgettable performance and I was left in awe of the magic and talent involved. The incredible tricks, music, the visual effects, the costumes and the stunning voice of the singer will take your breath away! A must see!

You can still see Cirque Du Soleil Ovo in the UK, as they continue touring the country till the end of October (Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin & Belfast), then they will be performing in France, Portugal and Spain.
