Babyliss Big Hair 50mm Rotating Styler Review

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!

Here I am reviewing another hair tool... :) This time it is from one of the most popular and  affordable brands - Babyliss. It is the Big Hair Rotating Styler. I watched a couple of videos featuring this product, so I couldn't resist giving it a go myself.  I wasn't sure if I will be happy with the outcome, because my hair is really long at the moment, but I really like it.

"Fun and easy to use, the BaByliss Big Hair styler features a rotating styling brush with a 700 watt hair dryer that lifts and shines your hair for a gorgeous high volume look. For years, professional hairdressers have been creating the big hair look for celebrity clients using a brush and a hair dryer - now you get the same look quickly and simply at home. Easily controlled by two large buttons on it's handle, the multi directional styling brush spins clockwise and counter clockwise, so you can quickly switch directions to create the stunning look you want."

Babyliss Big Hair is a hair dryer/round brush hybrid, created to give you a salon blow dry at home. It has a 50mm ceramic barrel to add volume and soft bristles with an ionic conditioning system for added shine and smoothness.

Let's start with the most common question/concern - is it easy to use? Yes, but if  you have long hair, you will need some time to get used to it. I have to admit... I panicked when the brush started rotating and all my hair ended up wrapped around the brush :) haha. Did the brush tangle my hair? No! I panicked for no reason. I am guessing that with short hair, this tool is the best thing you can imagine for blow drying! With long hair, you have to work with smaller sections, but it is worth it. The brush rotates in two directions, has two speed/heat settings and a cool setting to suit all hair types/needs.

In my case, it is all about adding volume to the roots of my hair (naturally extremely flat), so I focus on that area when I am using the styler. The only product I used before styling was Bumble and Bumble Thickening hairspray. I am addicted this stuff :)  To add even more volume, I use a dusting powder and dry shampoo or a texturising spray to dry hair. The final result is fantastic and I love how big and smooth my hair looks!

Overall, I really like the Babyliss Big Hair 50mm Styler* and I find it easy to use. It gives my hair much needed volume and adds shine. I would recommend it for all hair types and lengths, but I can imagine that the most amazing effect could be achieved on short/medium hair.

You can buy Babyliss products and the 50mm and 42 mm version of the Big Hair styler from www.very.co.uk

I took a couple of instagram photos of my hair after styling:

  3. I have heard many a good thing about this and recently invested in the Tresemme version and I absolutely love it although admittedly I don't reach for it as much as I should. I would love to try this out and see if it works wonders for short hair aswell.

  7. This is my favourite hair dryer because it always manages to make my hair look silky smooth.
I have super long but thin and frizzy hair which always looks like a birds nest but this helps smooths it down and if I spend enough time with it, a salon looking finish.

However, on my second one already because there's some issue where it burns out and stops rotating but so far so good...
