I was organising my make up last week and I found two bottles of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. One is over 1 year old and "empty" and one is brand new. The funny thing is... they were the same weight. I remembered that I seen a post about "depotting" the UD primer and I thought, I will give it a go to see... I was shocked!!! I sliced the tiny bottle with a sharp knife (I also sliced my finger, so be careful!) and it was FULL!!! I was convinced that there was no product left... Now... see what was inside:

Saving- Depotting Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Hello my lovelies!
Such a great idea! I totally would have thrown mine out not realising! You have a great blog as well :)
ReplyDeleteI do this with my foundation, you think it's empty till you do this and you get another week or so worth of makeup! :) x
ReplyDeleteI try and do this with most of my stuff now, i find I waste a lot of it because I 'thought' it was empty and volia it's not. Just can't elieve how much was left in there that was nearly full! x
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that is alot of product left! Good idea, imagine how much product we all can save by doing this. thanks for a great post!
ReplyDeleteI do this exact same process with my eyeshadow primer potion. Do you think they do it on purpose to make more money out of you ;)
ReplyDeletePs: Lovely nails even though you have a wound on your thumb!xx
That's really a lot of product! I depotted some tubes but there was like half of that.

Great idea and I'm in love with your nail polish what are they?!?! xo
ReplyDeleteIt's Rimmel London CLouds and Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday. I done a post about it yesterday xxx
DeleteOh yes I'm so sorry. I actually looked at the blog post as well, what a dodo hahaah!
DeleteI've wanted the Deborah Lippman for ages :P
Know of any good dupes? xo
;) there is a dupe from Technic, but apparently it is really hard to get since it got labeled as DL dupe ;)
DeleteOooh, thank you :) thats a pain!! I will find one, if not i'll just treat myself to the real thing ;)
DeleteDo you know any easy way of reading replies to what you have commented on? Or do you just have to go back and look?!
xo
I am afraid there is no way to know if somebody replied unless you go back to the comment. That's why some bloggers started using Disqus for commenting, where you get an email if somebody replies to you comment.
DeleteOh I see!!! How annoying! I'm just sad and write down everyone I comment on and check now. Haha.
DeleteAlso I think Models Own do a good dupe for the Happy Birthday DL :) My friend wore it last night (i know you've got it so you don't need to worry but if anyone is reading this they might! haha)
xo
thanks for replying :)
That is crazy how much product was still in there. I do this with a lot of my tube products and it's definitely amazing how much you can waste if you just threw it out.

This is such a great idea. Especially for the old packaging. The new squeeze tube packaging seems to help with not wasting so much product, but this technique can deffo be used on other products too since there's so much product left in most packagings~
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this :)

Dobre rozwiązanie. Mi też ostatnio skończył się jeden podkład (choć było go pełno, tylko ten dozownik nie dosięgał).
ReplyDeleteWow! Bit of rubbish packaging by Urban Decay there, at least the new squeezy tubes aren't too bad :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tip!

holy crap! great post, thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteIm deff the type who would cut myself as i tried to do that! But it does make me think about all the product i have probably thrown away by not opening up the packaging.

Ouch! That's no good that you cut your hand :( But this seems really nifty to really get the product out. Shall think about it next time I think my primer potion is finished (and hopefully not cut off my finger in the process :p)
ReplyDelete:o I thought mine was empty, i will cut it too!
ReplyDeleteO dear, this is helpful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)

Thanks for sharing! This is a brilliant idea! I feel I never got much primer out of my bottles, I need to slice mine open and see what's inside!
