DIY gift idea: Giant Yarn Blanket.

I love a quick but satisfying and effective DIY project and a giant yarn blanket is one of the easiest and simplest things anyone can make. If you want to give it a go, either for yourself or maybe as a handmade Christmas gift, I would highly recommend it.

I was kindly sent a 2kg ball of Epic Extreme yarn in shade Granite from Wool Couture and it was the perfect amount to make a 30x50 inch blanket. You simply start the first row with your arms then put it on a flat surface and do the rest of the stitches with your hands. It's so, so simple! I followed THIS Youtube tutorial. It took me less than an hour.

Even if you're not a knitter or crocheter, you will be able to do this DIY easily, especially if you follow a Youtube tutorial. You can see some of the process below.

Et voila! I cannot believe how quickly I made this beautiful blanket.

One thing I didn't do before starting my blanket was felting the wool to make the blanket shed less, but I am hoping it will be fine. I know that many knitters don't felt it at all, so it should be ok.

Have you tried knitting or crocheting? I personally love it, as every generation in my family is really good at it and I want to continue the tradition. I love sitting down to crochet blankets and amigurumi toys for the kids.
