Urban Decay Heavy Metal Loose Glitters* (£10.00 each)
I absolutely adore Urban Decay, which means that every single one of their launches really excites me. When the Heavy Metal Loose Glitters arrived in the post, I couldn't wait to give them a go. I just love anything sparkly, but... I am not too sure if I will be able to pull them off :)
There are six shades in total and each one comes in a clear shaker container, so you can see the glitter through it and find the colour you want to use easily. They all look absolutely stunning in the jars and swatched on my arm, but I think that this kind of product is more suitable for makeup artists, than regular makeup lovers like me. The six shades include: Pyrotechnics (white), Goldmine (gold), ACDC (purple), Loaded (green), Catfight (pink) and Reverb (blue). They are all very vibrant and the white looks almost multicoloured when it reflects light. So pretty!
The glitter particles are quite chunky and much bigger than I expected, which is a shame. The application process is slightly messy and tricky and it is hard to achieve an even finish on the lids. You are meant to use the Bondage Adhesive first and press the glitter onto the skin with your fingers, but sprinkling the glitter onto the adhesive works much better. Unfortunately, I am not sure if this would work on your eyes, but a small brush might be better than fingers. Let me know, if you have any tips and tricks for applying loose glitters.
To be honest, I am still trying to figure out a way to use these. If you are wondering, if I actually applied the glitters onto my eyes, the answer is yes. I wasn't able to achieve the finish you can see on the swatches though, as it looks more patchy on the eyelids. They felt comfortable on the lid and didn't irritate my eyes and were relatively easy to remove. Glitters are a pain in general, so I had some left on my face after double cleansing, but it wasn't a disaster :) I really want to master a technique to apply these as a liner. I think it would look awesome!
Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive (£10.00)
The water based adhesive is fantastic and makes the glitter stay in place until you remove it. It comes in a tube with a little brush and it is totally fuss free. You can easily use it allover the lid or to draw a thin line and apply the glitter on top.
Overall, I love all the shades of Heavy Metal Loose Glitters, I like the concept and the adhesive is fantastic, but... I really wish the glitter particles were much smaller. This way I could actually use the glitters in many makeup looks. I am very impressed with the Bondage Adhesive though and I will be using it for finer glitters. It is fantastic, especially for only £10.00
You can buy these from www.urbandecay.com (US) and from selected Debenhams stores in UK.
