Logitech Ultrathin Magnetic Keyboard for iPad Mini

I don't get to review gadgets a lot, but I am all for it when I do have the opportunity to try something new. As a blogger and a photography enthusiast, I cannot live without my laptop, iPad, SLR, an array of memory cards and other bits and bobs. I was like that even before In started blogging. The item I am reviewing today is a Logitech Ultrathin Magnetic Clip-On Keyboard* for iPad Mini and iPad Mini with Retina Display and it is a nifty little gadget.

I actually bought a wireless keyboard for my iPad ages ago, but I found it absolutely pointless because it wasn't a clip-on model and when I wanted to use it, I had nowhere to put my iPad, unless I used a little stand for it. It was all a bit of a hassle. The Logitech keyboard attaches to your iPad with a magnetic clip and once it's on, it looks like you have a tiny, ultra thin laptop. The magnetic clip is very clever, as it senses the iPad when you want to attach it and pops up, allowing you to simply slide it in! Magic. The magnets in the clip are really strong, so you don't have to worry about the keyboard sliding off and your screen will always be protected. Ultrathin wakes iPad when you open the cover and puts it to sleep when you close it as well.

To use the keyboard, you simply take it off, place your iPad mini in the 'dock', switch the keyboard on with a little side switch and  set it up in your settings. It takes seconds, as it connects via bluetooth. Once you are all set up, you can start typing. Simple. I used the keyboard when I was in Poland last month and I found it ideal for blogging on the go. I had lots of blog photos saved in drafts and I only wanted to add text, so it was ideal. I hate typing up blog posts on the actual iPad, so the keyboard made it much easier. Same with replying to emails, sooo quick!

The Logitech Ultrathin Magnetic Clip-On Keyboard is available in two colours, a light silver with a white keyboard to match a white iPad and a dark silver/grey with a black keyboard to match the black iPad. The design is lovely and the colours match the iPad perfectly. I was actually sent the black one by accident at first and it looked ridiculous with my white iPad, so make sure to get the right colour.

Oh, I almost forgot about the battery life. To be perfectly honest, I didn't even think about it until now,  haha :) You get a mini USB cable in the box and simply charge your keyboard this way when it dies. The battery is meant to last for up to 3 months, which is amazing!

Overall, the Logitech Ultrathin Magnetic Clip-On Keyboard is an ideal device for those who write a lot, have to reply to lots of emails on the go etc. The design is very sleek and I just love it. I also use it a lot as a stand for my iPad when I want to watch videos etc. It's sooo handy!

The only downside is the price, as it retails at £69.99. It's quite a lot of money for a little keyboard, but I am really happy with it.

You can buy the Logitech Ultrathin Magnetic Clip-On Keyboard from and from  the Apple store. It is also available for big iPads.

  4. Nice one!! So you can actually fold both the keyboard and iPad like a mini laptop, right? Cool...^^

    1. No, you just detach it and place the iPad in the little dock. The only keyboards that actually lets you fold /open like a laptop comes with hinges but it's even more expensive and I am assuming that it would make the ipad flip over a lot. It's called BrydgeAir.

  5. Ahh this is just what I was looking for, I've always thought I would use my iPad more if I could get hold of one - so thank you!
