Makeup Revolution Radiant Lights

Keeping up with all new Makeup Revolution launches is almost impossible :) They bring out new products constantly, all of them at very affordable prices. I am a bit late to the party with Radiant Lights*, but they were named Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder dupes by many bloggers, so I had to compare them for you.

There are three colour options to choose from: Glow, Breathe and Exhale (£5.00 each). You can now get a full Radiance Palette with all three shades as well for only £8.00, which is even better! It is easy to spot that the powders and the palette were inspired by the Hourglass Ambient Lighting range, but I think that the Makeup Revolution offerings are too shimmery to use allover my face. With Hourglass, I can set my makeup and add a subtle highlight, without looking like I am wearing a highlight in the wrong places. This doesn't mean that I don't like Radiant Lights though. They have a nice, finely milled texture and sit nicely on the skin, adding a gorgeous glow to the tops of my cheekbones and cupids bow.

I like using the lightest (Exhale) and medium (Breathe) shades as a highlight the darkest shade (Glow) as a bronzer. You can see the comparison to the Hourglass powders below. The colours are very similar, but the Hourglass formula is more matte and it feels more silky and lightweight.

L-R: Hourglass Dim Light, Radiant Light in Breathe, Hourglass Incandescent Light, Radiant Light in Exhale, Hourglass Radiant Light, Radiant Light in Glow.

Overall, Radiant Lights are really nice as highlighters and I would definitely recommend them for that purpose, but I personally find them a bit too shimmery to use as finishing powders allover my face.

    1. Their eye shadows are fab as well, especially the Naked Chocolate Palette and Iconic 3 Palette. I also love their Brow Tint, Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquers, Awesome Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadows, Amazing Inner Eye Brightener, Awesome Dual Brow Ultra Brow Arch & Shape and Golden Sugar Palette.

  2. I didn't realise they were so similar! You can see the amount of shimmer in the pans though so they are too shimmery to use all over. The Glow colour reminds me of Mac Soft & Gentle x

  3. Too bad they're too shimmery to use all over the face, but they still look like lovely highlighters :)

  6. I've seen a lot of people talking about these Makeup Revolution highlighters and they look amazing. It's nice to see they're similar to Hourglass even if the formulation is different.

  8. Ooh - thank you for the comparison swatches :) they're similar colours but as you said the level of shimmer are different. I love the shade Breathe from Radiant Lights and it's my everyday highlighter (never thought I'd use one in the day!) but I don't apply it all over my face xx

  9. Ooh, I really like the lighter shades - I don't usually go too shimmery either but I think they'd be perfect around the eyes.

These look lovely though, Makeup Revolution seems to be one of those brands that just gets everything right!

  20. Yeah, I think these look a bit too shimmery to achieve that glowy-photoshopped look haha. They look like great highlighters though!

  22. You can definitely see the extra shimmer in the Revolution ones which is such a shame, I'm a big fan of the Hourglass powders but it would be lovely to find a cheaper alternative so that I can save those for best! I am in need of a highlighter though, so these might be worth checking out anyway.

  23. I've recently got one of the blush palettes in Sugar & Spice which is lovely!

It's a shame these aren't a more all round face powder, but for the price they definitely look lovely as highlighters and bronzers. I'm yet to try the Hourglass powders but still have it on my wishlist for now.

  25. I bought the MUR Radiant Lights palette as I knew they were a dupe for Hourglass but couldn't part with the money for Hourglass! Great comparison post to see the exact difference between the two :) xx

  27. I would not use this as an allover face product either but they seem to be great as highlighters and dupe quite nicely the Hourglass ones in terms of shades! May give them a go soon :) xx
