Favourite highlighters: theBalm, NEW CID, MAC, Glo Minerals & Jane Iredale

My collection of highlighters became slightly excessive, but the fact that I now need a separate "highlighter drawer" in my dressing table, doesn't stop me from buying more. In fact... I just received my Illamasqua order with two of their Illuminators and... I also bought my dream Guerlain Metoerites Pearls last night :) It is turning into an obsession, but I love a bit of sparkle and a healthy glow! I will definitely review the Meteorites and Illamasqua Illuminators on the blog soon, but today I am sharing my current favourite highlighters.

The New CID i-glow highlighter* in shade Sirocco is my first product from the brand and I absolutely love it! It comes in a simple white compact with a mirror and I really like the design. The product itself looks really pretty in the pan and feels amazing to the touch. The formula is super pigmented and finely milled, with a lovely golden glow. The powder applies like a dream, blends easily and reminds me of MAC's MSF in Soft and Gentle. It is more golden in tone though and it compliments my skin tone beautifully. You can buy it from www.hairtrade.com for £21.59.

My most recent discovery is the Jane Iredale Multi Bronzer in shade Moonglow*(£34.95) and it is a special one! Why? Because it's made with 24-karat gold leaf! What else can a girl ask for in a makeup product, eh? :) The one I received from  Beauty Time Therapies is a simple tester, but standard packaging is very luxurious and looks absolutely gorgeous! Make sure to have a peek on the website and see it in all it's glory.

I love the variety of colours in this quad and I either use them separately or swirl the brush in the middle to blend the colours together. The bronzer/highlighter can be used on the cheeks, eyes or allover your face for a natural looking glow. I was worried that it might look too dark, but as you can see on the swatches below, it looks very natural and sheer, once blended. It is quite pricey, but the fact that you get four different shades in one compact, all made with 24K Gold, definitely makes up for it :)

Another product with real gold thrown into the mixture is the Glo Minerals 24K Dust*(£30.95). It is a loose powder and it gives a natural looking glow with subtle gold shimmer. It is a multipurpose product and can be used on your face, hair and body. Because of the 24K Gold content, it is on the expensive side, but I totally understand why.

A more affordable option from Glo Minerals is their Cream Highlighter* (£12.00). I must admit - I am seriously impressed with it! The packaging doesn't look too fancy, but once you squeeze the product out, you will be surprised. It is a gorgeous luminescent pink cream, perfect for mixing in with foundations, to add a healthy glow and radiance. Used as a highlighter, it creates a luminous finish and reflects light beautifully. It is a real bargain and I wish it was available in  more shades.

Both products are formulated with Glo Minerals exclusive blend of antioxidants, including green tea and Vitamins A, C & E. Available from www.glo-minerals.com

I reviewed the Mary-Lou Manizer* (£15.00) recently, but I had to include it in this post! It is a beautiful, reasonably priced product and I reach for it quite often. It suits all skin tones and doesn't look too shimmery. You can read my full review here.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle (£21.50) is still one of my favourite highlighters and after 6 months of regular use, there is hardly a dent in it! It is great value for money. If you are not a fan of gold highlighters and prefer champagne shades, it could be the right choice for you. You can read my full review here.

I thought that swatching all the highlighters next to each other will be a good idea. This way, you will be able to decide which shade is your favourite :)
