By Chloe Covent Garden London

I want to share more vegan food reviews this years, so what better way to start than By Chloe in Covent Garden! We visited at the end of 2018 during our mini trip to London and it was delicious, with one unexpected twist...

I knew exactly what I wanted to order before our trip, so it was an easy choice and it was everything I hoped for! I usually get overwhelmed with the amount of choice in a fully vegan restaurant, as I am used to ordering from a tiny menu or a side menu in other places, so I wanted to be prepared. To be honest, I wanted to order everything, as it all sounds and looks amazing!

Anyway, I opted for the fish n' chips, with the 'fish' made with crispy battered tofu with a sheet of seaweed inside for the fishy flavour, a side of chips, mushy peas and delicious vegan tartar sauce for dipping! Yum! It was so good! I make my own tofu fish at home, but this one was even better!

Scott had the pesto meatball sub which was a decent size and was filled with vegan Italian pesto meatballs made with  portobello mushrooms and veggies. It was topped with marinara, sweet peppers, basil pesto, cashew mozzarella and almond parmesan. It was really tasty!

The only disappointment was the seasonal lemonade. I was really looking forward to it, but it honestly just tasted like apple cider vinegar and it was vile! I would never risk ordering their lemonade again, apparently it's very hit and miss. Next time I will order a bottled drink.

Overall, the food was amazing and I would definitely go back next time we're in London. I wish we tried the CBD desserts as well. I also liked the decor and the vibe of the place, it's great for a quick lunch and you can either sit in or grab and go. It is a bit pricey, but not extortionate.

Have you visited By Chloe?
