When you’re lacking confidence in yourself, it hinders you from being your best self. It’s so important that you take the time to focus and work on yourself when you’re feeling a little down, so that you can regain your self esteem.

When you feel good about yourself, you’ll feel happier and be more productive. Let’s take a look at some ways to boost your self confidence so you can get back on the right path and do amazing things, like we know you can.

Set some goals

When you’re looking at building your self confidence, it’s important to begin by setting yourself a few goals. What do you want to achieve by this time next year? What about 5 years down the line? Setting your sights in a realistic way can really help boost your confidence, especially as you start making progress towards them. Whether you track this process day by day, week by week, or even every 6 months is completely up to you. Writing these goals down will also help keep you accountable for what you want to achieve.

Reflect on what you’ve achieved

Perhaps your self confidence is shot because you’ve recently lost a job or you didn’t get into a school you applied for? Don’t be afraid to celebrate what you’ve already achieved in life, no matter how big or small that may be. Reflect on everything you’ve achieved and the skills you’ve picked up along the way. Once you see your strengths and understand how much you’ve actually done so far, it will give you the confidence to shake yourself off and get back out there to talk about how amazing you really are.

Make time for your hobbies

While it’s important to work hard for your achievements, all work and no play can soon become very tiring. Make time for your hobbies! Spend some time enjoying hobbies that relate to your skills to challenge yourself. You may find that you step out of your comfort zone and pick up a new skill that will also help boost your self confidence.

Enhancing and embracing your beauty

If part of your lack of self confidence comes from the way you look, then maybe it’s time to do something about it. If you feel a bit run down and need a change, try getting a new and fabulous haircut and a facial. Or think of visiting the dentist to get your teeth looking as beautiful as they can be, if your smile is something you're self conscious about. Looks aren't everything when it comes to self confidence, but it certainly helps when you like what you see in the mirror and smile wide with confidence. You should also try to look after yourself from within and put your mental health first. You’ll feel a thousand times better when you invest in yourself.

Feeling down about yourself isn’t nice, but there are things you can do! Be patient with yourself, there’s bound to be bad days. Put in the effort and you’ll soon notice a change in the way you feel about yourself!
