It looks like I might be jetting off to a hot country at the end of the month. It wasn't planned (we were supposed to go in October) and we are not sure where we are going yet. Spain, Portugal and France are possible options, but we will just get the best last minute deal, if everything goes according to plan. If not, we will just go to Scarborough with my in-laws for a week to enjoy the British seaside. The weather is supposed to be lovely from the 21st of July :) With that in mind, I went through my stash of shimmering body oils to make sure I have plenty to choose from. I am absolutely addicted to them and I go through many bottles in Spring/Summer.
They are perfect for adding a golden glow to the skin, without leaving it greasy or sticky. They can be used on hair as well, if you have dry ends or simply like a bit of shimmer in your locks :) You can also use them on your face, if you want a nice, golden highlight on your cheekbones. It is totally up to you how you use them. You can even wear them as perfume, because the scent of the oil lasts on the skin all day! Without further ado, here are my shimmering oil picks.
Nuxe Huile Prodiguese OR Shimmering Multi Purpose Dry Oil (50ml, £21.00)
This option is definitely my favourite and I have repurchased it recently, even after finding cheaper alternatives. I just love the scent and I find it the lightest from all three shimmering oils I got to try. The formula combines 30% Precious Plant Oils (Borage, St Johnswort, Sweet Almond, Camellia, Hazelnut, Macadamia) and Vitamin E to nourish, repair and soften face, body and hair. I love the way it makes my skin feel and it also works really well on my hair, without leaving it greasy. It's simply beautiful! Also, the 50ml size is perfect to keep in my beach bag, without taking up too much space.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil (100ml, £16.00)
With this option, you get more for your money, but I prefer the smell of Nuxe. The formula of this oil is lightweight as well, but it only works on my body. It tends to look a bit greasy on my hair. It's my second bottle, which means that I must have enjoyed using it. The bottle is slightly more bulky than Nuxe, but you get more product so I can't moan :)
Yves Rocher Monoi Precious Dry Oil* (
If you need a real bargain, this baby is for you! It takes a little bit longer to dry than the other two, but it is fantastic for the price and the scent is beautiful too! With the 50% discount, you simply can't go wrong with it. Again, it is a bigger size than the slim Nuxe one, but you can easily pop it into your beach bag anyway.
Ok, so I haven't tried this one yet, but I am hoping to pick it up in Boots tomorrow. It is part of the 3 for 2 offer - BARGAIN! It is a blend of jojoba and sesame oils, so I am not sure how it will smell, but I will let you know once I get it. Fingers crossed it smells gorgeous.
Do you love shimmering body oils? I can't imagine Summer and holidays without them.
