Hi everyone and Happy Friday! Today, I am reviewing two L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splashes I purchased, as soon as my spending ban ended. I was really looking forward to trying them, because many bloggers raved about the formula and compared it to YSL Glossy Stains.

First of all, the packaging is absolutely beautiful. It looks really expensive and I adore the full design. Considering the affordable £7.99 price tag, they look pretty amazing! Glam Shine Stain Splashes come in eight shades and I decided to go for 101 Lolita and 103 Marilyn. I wanted a nude and a pink, so they seemed perfect.

What about the formula? The most annoying part is the poor pigmentation, they are definitely less pigmented than YSL Glossy Stains. I've heard that the formula is exactly the same as YSL's but I can't confirm that, because I haven't tried Glossy Stains :)

One layer of product sinks into my lips really quickly and looks kind of invisible. To get a noticeable layer of colour, I need at least 3 layers, preferably 5. The Formula glides on easily  and leaves my lips very glossy. Unfortunately, I can't stand the way the product feels on my lips. I am not fussy with lip products, but the L'Oreal Stain Splashes feel very uncomfortable in my opinion and leave a sticky, thick film which drives me insane! I have a love hate relationship with these.

Lolita is a pinky mauve shade and Marilyn is a bright pink, but they look slightly different on each person, depending on the pigmentation of your lips. I noticed that shade Marilyn looked much darker on my sister and very light on me. In bright light, the coverage is sheer and can look patchy (see swatches  below), but indoors and in darker light the stains look much darker. Oh, and once you apply the product to your lips, it will turn darker in 10-20 minutes, so be aware that swatching the product on your hand will not show the true colour.

Both shades lasted on my lips for over 2 hours ( including eating and drinking) so the staying power is really good! If you like lipgloss you will probably love these.

Overall, I love the packaging and the glossy effect, but I really dislike the feeling of the product on my lips and the stickiness. I know that some people absolutely love the L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splashes, so don't be put off by my review. Read more reviews and maybe swatch them instore, before buying. I wish I tried them before buying, because I really regret spending money on something I will probably never use.

Have you tried L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splashes? What is your opinion?

  1. My problem with glosses is always the same, I hate the sticky feeling :/ That's why I am now more into lip tints that are smooth like Burt's Bees :) By the way, following you on Instagram, loved to see your cute kid :)

  2. I bought three when they came out and I was so disappointed with them. And the lolita one looks awful on me. Nothing like it looks on you :(

  3. I also didn't go along well with these Shine Stain Splashes. I even find the packaging a magnet to fingerprints. x

  4. I have the shade Lolita too, find it so bizarre how they change colour?! Although I do really like the glossy tint they create.

  5. I have Lolita, I don't find it to be too bad for pigment, but I think I have paler lips than you :P But still, it doesn't show up that much on me :)

  6. I am on the fence on these, I own a glossy stain and it is the best lip product I have ever used. It's revolutionary in it's formula so for £7.99 can't see how it can be a dupe as other people have stated. Lovely review Sandra.

  7. Lovely review, I have quite pigmented lips so I just don't think these will work for me sadly, still, I love the packaging!

  8. I'm with you, I really hate the way these feel on the lips >__< Such a shame because they really are so hyped up!!

  9. I love these

  10. great review! I have two of YSL's Glossy Stains, and love them both. I was hoping these would be a cheaper alternative, but it looks as though they don't really compare!

  11. I have the purple one (forgot the name) and it`s sooo pigmented, i can`t believe you needed 3 coats :S.

  12. The colours are gorgeous but it is a shame about the poor pigmentation, 5 layers is just way too thick.

  13. I bought one of these and hated it. I sold it yesterday at a boot sale. Only used it twice because the pigmentation is indeed rubbish. The shade I got looked incredibly patchy and was just awful. It's annoying because the packaging is so beautiful, they need to change the formula.

  14. I'm sooo glad I stumbled on this. I was literally about to give these a go on my way in to work today.

  15. I am so happy I found this review! I've been looking for a new lip stain for a while, and I was going to pick these up when I thought I should look more into them!
