Plowden & Fallow Ophrys EDP review

As a huge fan of unisex fragrances, I was really excited to be introduced to the world of Plowden & Fallow! The home to one of Britain’s newer contemporary fragrance houses, located on the Plowden Estate in Shropshire, England. Plowden & Fallow offer high quality artisan luxury fragrances, shaving products and accessories for those who seek something more unique than your everyday department store brands. Inspired by great British traditions, folklore and eccentricity, the brand is the perfect choice for anyone who loves quintessentially British fragranced products with a modern twist. I was kindly sent a selection of fragrance samples to choose from and I was so impressed with every single one, I found it very hard to make a decision. But... I eventually settled on the beautiful Ophrys EDP* (£88.00) and I absolutely adore it. It is so unique!

Let's start with the beautiful packaging. It is so eye catching and luxurious. The Ophrys Eau De Parfum comes in a beautiful presentation box with the bottle nestled inside. I love the green colour and the gorgeous illustrations. The gold accents and burgundy seal with a stag make it feel even more luxurious. The brand puts a lot of effort into sustainability, so you can be assured that the production, packaging and shipping are as environmentally friendly as possible.

The bottle itself feels heavy and expensive and features an elegant, classic shape with a round gold bottle cap. I love a weighty bottle! It really makes the 'fragrance ritual' so much more special! The label design goes perfectly with the outer box, as the green theme continues. You can tell how important the quality, and all the finer details are for Plowden and Fallow.  Produced in the UK, by artisan craftsmen and women, combining knowledge, passion and expertise, often passed down through generations, all the products are made in small batches and constructed by hand.

But let's talk about the fragrance! Ophrys EDP is described as a summery botanical potion, with green aromatic and floral undertones that capture daring romantic notions of an era gone by, a love for exploration, discovery and the classical splendour of the English garden in bloom. The description itself would make me buy it immediately! How blooming lovely does this sound? And believe me, it smells incredible!

Featuring top notes of Petitgrain, heart notes of Orange Blossom, Peony and Rose Absolute and base notes of Hay Absolute, Musk, Patchouli and Sandalwood, the fragrance is a floral dream! It's not your usual rose scent though, it has more depth and uniqueness to it. The base notes add a sophisticated woody aroma and the touch of Petitgrain brings some freshness. I would say that Ophrys is definitely more on the heavy side, but it is still quite delicate at the same time. It's so beautiful ,even my daughter (who finds most fragrances too heavy) complimented me on it and that does not happen very often!

It is a unisex scent with floral notes, which is quite rare and not easy to achieve in my opinion. I find most scents with rose very feminine, but Ophrys is the perfect balance. I absolutely adore it and simply can't get enough!

Overall, I am very impressed with Plowden & Fallow and their unique fragrances. I tried all 5 and I liked every single one. But Ophrys stood out to me the most. I think Audacity and Debonaire are next on my wishlist. So captivating and elegant!
