The Lodge On Loch Lomond restaurant review

On Monday, my husband and I headed to The Lodge on Loch Lomond for a very rare kids free dinner and let me tell you - it was amazing! I didn't know what to expect, but I fell in love with the food and of course the stunning location. I mean... Who doesn't love Loch Lomond?

The restaurant has a lovely Scottish feel, with plenty of tables next to the windows, so if you are one of the first guests to arrive for dinner, you can get the best view.

We started with some drinks. I opted for an Aperol Spritz, so I could slowly sip on it.

Scott was driving, so he settled on his usual choice - a virgin mojito. It was the best mojito I have ever tasted!

We spent quite a long time trying to decide what to order. So many delicious options to choose from!

My starter was a Smoked Loch Fyne Seafood platter, featuring a selection of smoked seafood from Loch Fyne, caperberries, salted yoghurt and sourdough. Yum! I am a fish and seafood lover so it was right up my street, but I let Scott taste it too and he really liked it. He's getting more into fish, which is fab!

The presentation of all the courses was incredible! So much attention to detail.

Scott opted for Potato, Sunchoke and Luss duck egg ravioli with rosemary brown butter, foraged leaves and cured yolk. It was absolutely delicious! I wish there was more, so we could share.

Perfect starter.

For the main, both of us opted for beef. We have a rule that we don't buy meat for everyday cooking and only eat it when it's in a restaurant and it's a good quality piece of meat, sourced locally.

I had Cote De Boeuf  with dauphinoise potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and veggies and Oh My God... It was incredible. The beef was served on the bone and cooked to perfection, the potatoes were creamy and the mushroom and veggie stir fry was packed with flavour!

Scott had a Sirloin Steak with bone marrow mac and cheese and sauteed mushrooms and veggies and he was really happy with his choice. The bone marrow mac and cheese was the best mac and cheese I have ever tried in my life. Oh my... Slightly sweet, cheesy goodness! And the steak - again, cooked to perfection and full of a great smoky flavour.

What mac and cheese dreams are made of!

We had peppercorn sauce for the steaks and it was lovely!

We also ordered some chips on the side and I would drive to Loch Lomond right now just to get these! I don't know what their secret is! So good though!

My skinny fries were amazing too!

For dessert, we had one of the specials, as it sounded amazing. I usually go for things on the normal menu, but we just couldn't resist.

Chocolate Delice with strawberries, honeycomb and ice cream. WOW! The delice was the most indulgent dessert I have ever had - creamy, rich and smooth. I am still dreaming about it. It went so beautifully with the sweetness of the ice cream and honeycomb. Perfect balance of flavours and textures.

My husband is hard to please when it comes to desserts, but he was speechless! This has never happened before. Both of us were really impressed.

We also had delicious lattes with our desserts. Yum!

Hello... It's me... (in Adele's voice... haha)

One happy husband.

I love the feel of the hotel and restaurant. You just know you're in Scotland!

It was raining before we arrived, but the sun came out shortly after.

The view from the restaurant is simply breathtaking. Loch Lomond is one of my favourite places and I love going back time after time.

And on our way back, we could admire a stunning sunset from the bridge.

We had the most amazing evening at The Lodge On Loch Lomond with incredible food, great service and stunning views. I can't recommend it enough. I would love to book it for a night or two, as the hotel looks lovely and I can imagine having breakfast on the little balcony, overlooking Loch Lomond.
