First of all - how is my baby girl 1 already? I feel like I gave birth a couple of months ago. She is now walking (well, running), jumping around and climbing everything! She also loves feeding herself, so I decided that we will do a cake smash for her birthday. She is obsessed with food, so I knew she was going to love every second of it.
I baked the cake myself and used the same bunting we had on Mia's actual birthday cake and made sure not to add too much sugar to the mixture, as I didn't want Mia to be on a sugar high all day. She was allover that cake, so she ate quite a lot. She was fine though and didn't have an upset tummy or anything.
I set it all up in the kitchen, using my old photography background from years ago (it was a bit wrinkly, but let's ignore that). It always comes in handy for photos. I had some of the decorations left from the actual birthday party and added a star light, a chevron box and quick diy bunting. It looked lovely!
The cake stand is the stunning Emma Bridgewater Polka Dot Folk Cake Stand* (via Octer) and I completely blame it for my recent baking addiction :) haha. I just feel like it can't be empty, so I keep baking cakes. Oh... I have to stop! I need a cake dome for the stand, but the EB one is sold out everywhere, so I just have to wait. In the meantime, I have been browsing cake stands online in the hope of finding a dome to match the size of this, but no luck so far.
I am so in love with the photos from our DIY cake smash! I just have to re-edit them all, as it seems like they are a bit pixelated.
