Weight Loss Update #5

Oh wow, it's been a month since my last update, but there was literally nothing happening,  so I waited. I have been switching things up, trying new things and also still recovering from my horrid kidney infection, but I finally feel myself again.

I was kindly sent these Rhythm 108 bars to try and they are sooo good. I just wish they were dairy free. My favourites are the banana muffin and coconut macaroon flavours, with the first one being absolutely delicious. Tastes naughty, but it is actually good for you. Win win situation. These are perfect as a quick snack, a sweet treat instead of a biscuit or as part of your lunch. If you're dairy intolerant, stick to Nakd bars, but if you're fine with dairy, these are lovely!

I never take antibiotics, so when I was prescribed a course, I knew I had to get some probiotics to keep my gut healthy. I drank Yakult every day for a week, but I still got an upset tummy, so I needed something better. OptiBac* got things back to normal quickly and I would highly recommend it, if you're ever on antibiotics.

Now let's get to the real update... May has been a month of celebrations, starting with our 6th wedding anniversary on the 4th, followed by Scott's 29th birthday on the 20th. Lots of naughty food, cake etc... In the meantime, we had picnics, ice cream shop trips with Zac and more, so my healthy eating hasn't been going amazingly well. Obviously, I didn't start stuffing my face with burgers all of a sudden, but I wasn't really paying attention to the amount I was eating. May was basically my month off.

I did start exercising though and finally got new batteries for my Polar watch. I am trying to be as active as possible, as I can't really limit calories because I am breastfeeding. I started walking to the shop every day to get essentials, instead of doing a weekly shop. I am also picking Zachary up from nursery etc. The weather has been lovely, so it's so easy to just go for a power walk. I do not enjoy walking back home with groceries though, as it's uphill and it's a bit of a pain, but the burn is great, so I can't complain. I cannot express how much this little watch motivates me! I reviewed it here, if you want to know more.

I wish I could say that I have lost more weight, but I actually put 2-3lbs back on. I am not surprised though and I was expecting it. My hormones are allover the place as well, with my last period being over a month late! I think that breastfeeding is messing with my cycle, but it's normal. You can imagine what I was thinking though, haha :) I have horrid spots on my chin and jawline and it's sooo annoying!

I am also struggling with the rash I get after each workout or any sort of activity. It's not a sweat rash, it's like an allergic reaction to sweat, that goes away after 2-4 hours. It looks like I fell into stinging nettles! Grrrrr! It started after my first pregnancy and I have never suffered anything like it before, so something must have changed in my body then. So odd. I feel very self conscious about the rash when it appears as it goes right up to my neck and my full decolletage is covered in hives! So instead of catching some sun when I am out and about, I cover myself up, because I don't want anyone to see this horrid rash :( Even light house work makes me break out in that ridiculous rash. I am so, so confused about it! I am quite a fit person, so it's not like I am sweating like a psycho while hoovering, yet I get the rash anyway. WEIRD!

On a happier note, I am really looking forward to a nice summer and I have lots of fun activities planned with the kids, so hopefully being more active will contribute to the weight loss. As I said, I am not trying to force it or limit calories. I want it to be a permanent lifestyle change, with eating the healthiest food possible and being active and happy.

I originally wanted to wait till I lose the weight that I put back on, before writing an update, but that wouldn't be fair or realistic and I just want to be honest. No weight loss journey is easy! It is usually full of ups and downs, loses, gains and plateaus and I want to include all of that on the blog.
