How I deal with dehydration

Sometimes my skin goes a bit wild, especially during pregnancy. I try to drink as much water as I can and follow a good skincare routine, but I can't predict how my body will cope with certain things. I have been feeling quite dehydrated lately and here are the products I have been using to keep my skin happy.

First of all - I drink lots of water. Downing a full bottle in one go isn't ideal, so make sure to drink smaller amounts throughout the day. I would also recommend eating fruit and veg with a high water content. My favourite is watermelon. Yum! Avoid big amounts of caffeine as well, as it might contribute to dehydration.

I am not sure about you, but one of the first signs of dehydration (and tiredness) my body shows are dry eyes. I can't stand that feeling, so I use the Optrex ActiMist 2in1 Spray. I know... it is ridiculously overpriced!!! Sometimes I just buy regular eye drops, but as this spray is much easier to use (you spray it on closed eyes), I like having it in my handbag.

To sort out dehydrated skin, I start with a super hydrating face mask. The Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask is the best option for night time, as you just leave it on to work it's magic and the Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Rose Face Mask is perfect for a quick boost in the morning.

Good firming eye pads are an absolute must have for me and I can't live without them. Whether it's dehydration or simply tired eyes after a bad night, they work wonders! My favourites are the SKYN Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels, but at the moment I am using the Elizabeth Grant ones and they are lovely too.

My other hydrating heroes are also some of my skincare staples, that I use most days and repurchased many times. I have been using the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist for over 2 years and my skin loves it. It feels soothing, hydrating and refreshing. The Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum is another repurchase and it is simply amazing! I am on my 3rd bottle. It can quench the thirstiest skin and it's not expensive at all (you can get it for just over £10.00 when it's on sale).

To  make all your hydrating products perform even better, invest in Hydraluron as it will leave your skin feeling more hydrated, nourished and plump. I love the original Hydraluron, but the Hydraluron Moisture Jelly* comes in more hygienic packaging so it's a winner.
