Pregnancy update: 26 weeks

I wasn't going to write an update for this week, but I had a midwife appointment and an unplanned scan, so there is a lot to talk about and I like rambling about my pregnancy, haha :)  It's a long one, so grab a cuppa.

I had an appointment on Thursday, at 10.00, so we dropped Zachary off at nursery and went to the hospital. We were there 5-10 minutes early, but I had to wait 50 minutes to be seen!!! I wasn't feeling well at all, because it was very hot inside, but Scott is with me at every single appointment so I wasn't worried about fainting or anything.

I didn't get to see 'my' midwife, but the new one was nice too and I told her about the fainting, my low iron etc. She took my blood again to see, if I am absorbing the iron supplement, checked my blood pressure etc. Everything is fine (she phoned back with the blood results the next day and told me to continue taking the iron tablets, as my results were borderline). My sugar is still fine, as she did a random glucose test to see, if I am at risk of developing gestational diabetes. Fingers crossed I get lucky again and don't have any complications. The only thing I experienced with Zachary was water retention and swelling.

After listening to baby's heart, she measured my bump and she said that I am measuring really big for dates and since my last baby was big, she sent me for an unplanned scan. We were supposed to pick Zachary up from nursery at 11.30, so we asked Scott's dad to get him. Thankfully, he was a good boy and was happy to see his granddad :)

We didn't have to wait long for the scan at all and after checking baby's measurements, I was told that the baby is measuring ahead already, mostly the body, as the head is the right size, so I should expect another big baby. The sonographer was lovely and she asked, if we know what we are having. As we didn't get a 100% confirmation the last time, she was kind enough to check the gender again and confirmed that we are indeed having a little (well, big) girl :) Yay! I just wanted to be sure, as it makes the bond so much stronger. I can finally go shopping and buy a couple of bits and bobs.

We even got some scan pictures to take home with us, with the profile of our little girl :) Sooo cute. She is moving A LOT and the kicks are getting stronger each week. My uterus is huge and really high, so I can feel the kicks around my ribs already. It's not painful, just an odd (but amazing) feeling.

As you can see, my bump is huge! Seriously, even the midwife asked if we are sure there is only one baby in there, hence the scan etc. I look ready to pop and I am only 26 weeks. There is a lot of fluid around the baby (always good) and my stomach muscles aren't strong at all, so I am not surprised that I look 9 months pregnant already.

How far along? 26 weeks.

Total weight gain: 5lbs.

Maternity clothes? More new leggings :) I love these from ASDA. Only £12.00 for 2 pairs and the quality is great. They also fit nicely and the stitching is in the right places, so my bump looks smooth and lovely.

Cravings? Watermelon and carrot juice. Plus my weird old brick smelling obsession...

Stretch marks? No new ones.

Best moments this week: The unplanned scan. It was lovely to see our baby on the screen and confirming the gender. I am soooo happy!

Miss anything? Sleeping on my tummy.

Movement? Lots of kicks.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Fried meat.

Gender? Baby girl :)

Labour signs? No.

Symptoms? OMG, my back and my pelvis are killing me! I have all the symptoms of  SPD/PPGP:
-pain over the pubic bone at the front in the centre
-pain across both sides of my lower back
-pain in the perineum area
-pain in my thighs
-clicking and grinding in the pelvic area.

The discomfort is constant, but actual pain gets to an extreme level when I am getting out of bed, getting up from the sofa, walking too much (a little bit of walking actually helps). The worst part is turning over in bed. OMG, it is just shocking! I am in agony every single night. It's all new to me, because I was perfectly fine during my 1st pregnancy. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that it will be over soon. I am doing some exercises etc to help with the symptoms and try to move often, but not for long periods of time. It really helps. I need a new gym/birthing ball to bounce on too, as it is meant to help.

Sleep? Shocking, thanks to the pain I am experiencing in my back and pelvis.

Belly button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off?  Off.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy.

Looking forward to doing some baby girl shopping at the end of the month :)
