Pregnancy update: 24 weeks

This week was a bit of a roller coaster and if you are up to date with my posts, you probably know why. If not, you can read all about it here. I almost passed out when I was out on my own and it was really scary. I mentioned that I made an appointment with my GP to make sure everything is fine.

I went on Wednesday morning and she checked my blood pressure (which was perfectly fine), asked me some questions and took my blood, just in case I developed diabetes or anaemia. I got a phone call about the results yesterday and it turns out that my iron levels are really low and I need supplements to fix it. I am relieved that it's just iron, not something serious and I am really glad that I went to my GP, because me next midwife appointment isn't till the end of the month. I am planning to stuff my face with kale and other iron-rich foods from now on :) I very rarely eat meat, so it's easy for me to have low levels of iron, but I try my best to have a healthy, varied diet and my blood results have always been great.

Despite the big scare, I had a pretty good week and even managed to have a much needed breakfast date with the hubby, got lots of housework done, took blog photos and wrote a couple of blog posts. Yay! One thing I have to do soon is change my GP and midwife (I should have done it ages ago, but we never know when or where we are going to move next - the joys of private renting...), but I am worried that it might ruin my full care plan, as the hospital I am supposed to give birth in isn't an option for our area. I am really annoyed about that and sick of being asked why we haven't changed our GP yet. We have been with the same one for years (Scott & Zac all their life!) so I feel more comfortable. I don't know what to do, but I think it has to be done. One of my midwives was seriously pissed off about it and it made me really upset. I just can't be bothered with the hassle.

How far along? 24 weeks.

Total weight gain: 5lbs in total, all during the month of April. I just hope I don't start putting loads of weight on in my 3rd trimester. I can't cope with being any heavier.

Maternity clothes? No new ones, but I desperately need proper maternity leggings with a big belly band. I had them when I was pregnant with Zac and they were amazing!

Cravings? Watermelon! I can't get enough of it, but my local shops don't have any!!! Grrrrrr! So annoying. I have to travel to a huge asda to get some.

Stretch marks? Just my old ones.

Sleep? Not great, I keep waking up with back pain and I am seriously uncomfortable.

Best moments this week: Seeing baby's kicks on the outside, as they are getting stronger and stronger.

Miss anything? Sleeping on my tummy!!!

Movement? Yep, lots and lots of kicks :) It's amazing!

Anything making you queasy or sick? I started feeling a bit sick again, when Scott makes a fry-up. I have always hated the smell of it though, or anything greasy in general. Soooo gross!

Gender? Baby girl :)

Labour signs? Nope, but the scary experience on Monday terrified me more than labour.

Symptoms? Feeling a bit light-headed and out of breath, which should go away once the iron tablets start working.

Belly button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off?  Off.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy, but I was really upset after the fainting episode and I cried like a baby all day. I just couldn't stop.

Looking forward to: Our 5th wedding anniversary on Monday :)
