Exfoliating powders

Exfoliation is a big part of my skincare routine and there are many different product I use for this purpose. I like exfoliating toners, gentle scrubs, peels, masks etc, but I just love the velvety smooth feeling I can achieve after using an exfoliating powder. I've tried four different ones and to be perfectly honest, they are all fantastic!

Mixed with water, the powders release enzymes to polish off dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling super smooth and refreshed. They also help to brighten the complexion and calm  irritation and redness.

You can use these every day, a couple of times a week or when you want to give your skin a little 'pick-me-up', as the results are instant. You simply mix half a teaspoon of the powder with a small amount of water in the palm of your hand to form a foam, massage it all over the skin in circular motions and rinse with water.

The first exfoliating powder I have ever tried was the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant*( £41.75 for 75g). I got a small size as a GWP from Harvey Nichols and I fell in love with it! It's a rice-based enzyme powder with a skin brightening complex of aspergillus, grapefruit and liquorice and a smoothing blend of green tea, ginkgo and colloidal oatmeal.

Antonia Burrell Luminous Light Polishing Powder* (£45.00 for 40g) is definitely the most luxurious from the bunch and I just love the packaging. It creates the nicest foam and it is infused with tea tree leaf extract to stop pores from clogging up, zinc PCA to energises the skin and colloidal oatmeal to calm irritation and redness. Made with 100% natural ingredients, it is a real treat for the skin.

A slightly cheaper option is the One Love Organics Brand New Day Microderma Scrub & Mask* (£34.00 for 55g). Another sample size, so don't take the side by side photo into consideration, as you get 4 times more in a full size container. This powder is a 2 in 1 product and it can be used as an exfoliator and a mask.  The only downside of this one is the packaging, as once you open the product, you reseal it with a sticker and it doesn't always stick. Very annoying.

The DHC Face Wash Powder* (£9.50 for 50g) is the cheapest option, but it's just as good as the rest of the powders I mentioned. The formula contains soothing lavender and moisturising honey and it creates a very luxurious foam to dissolve dead skin cells and reveal a clearer complexion.

If I had to pick my favourite, it would probably be the Antonia Burrell one, but the DHC one is definitely the best value for money.
