Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise Cologne

Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise Cologne* (£82.00) is possibly the most expensive fragrance in my collection. Yes, it definitely is. It is my first Jo Malone cologne and I wasn't sure what to get, but my vanilla obsession made me pick Vanilla & Anise :)

Without trying the fragrance in real life, I wasn't sure what to expect so I was a bit nervous that I might not like it. Most vanilla scents are beautiful though, so it wasn't a big risk.  Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise Cologne is described  as a 'delicate blend of vanilla orchid, vanilla bourbon and star anise', but after doing some more research it turns out that is has plenty of other notes.

The top notes include sicilian bergamot, tunisian neroli, wild fennel and star anise, heart notes feature tuberose, violet vanilla orchid, jasmine, frangipani and cloves and the base notes consist of ambergris, vetiver, Bourbon vanilla absolute and tonka.

It's a nice fragrance with very distinct anise and vanilla notes, but I am not 100% in love with it. It's not your usual vanilla scent, so I would recommend trying it out at a counter, before ordering online. When I first spray it, it is quite a rich, but it quickly settles to a more subtle, sweet scent that lingers on the skin for a long time.
