Simple Christmas DIY ideas

I love DIY projects and December is my favourite time to be a little bit more creative. Every year I put together little bits and bobs to make my house look more festive and I really enjoy it! In today's post I am sharing 5 simple Christmas DIY ideas and one of them can be used as a gift as well :)

One thing I always make is a centrepiece for the table. I usually buy a bag of pine cones, fake Christmas tree branches etc and I arrange them in a bowl with a candle in the middle. It is very simple, but it looks gorgeous! Anyone can do it and you don't need special DIY skills at all :) I am very happy with the way this year's centrepiece turned out.

I also wanted to share the centrepiece I made last year. Just random festive bits and bobs stuck into some polystyrene :) It takes more time than the first option, but it's lovely! The silver pine cones are just spray painted with silver paint. Another easy DIY idea, especially if you have a specific colour scheme and need all your decorations a certain colour.

Making your own gingerbread decorations to hang on the tree is a fab activity to do with your loved ones, especially kids. You can either buy a little kit with premade gingerbread and decorate it with icing or bake your own, which is even more fun!

Zachary loves decorating his gingerbread and haning it on the tree. It's a lovely tradition and a perfect excuse to eat some treats too :)

I also make fake presents to put under the tree before I have all the real gifts sorted. I often hide some gifts inside the fake ones to make sure noone finds them before Christmas Day :) All you need is a big box and a ribbon. Wrapping paper is optional, but I wanted my presents white with gold detail. I think it's a great idea and it looks gorgeous.

BM Bargains have lovely luxurious looking ribbons in at the moment for £1.00!

Another simple idea is a Christmas themed print. I simply framed a Christmas card with some gold tissue paper behind it and I displayed it on a shelf under my gallery wall.

The gold frame was only £2.00, so it's a cheap way of decorating your house and adding your own personal touch.

The last DIY is also a fab gift idea for Christmas. It's a Cinnamon & Pumpkin Pie Spice Sugar Scrub and it is super easy to make. I like making a jar for myself every year, but everyone who likes pampering would definitely appreciate it too! You simply mix brown sugar with oilve or/and almond oil and some Cinnamon and Pumpkin Pie Spice. Oh my... It smells divine! If you don't have Pumpkin Pie Spice, Cinnamon on it's own smells nice too. For an extra festive feel, throw in some crushed cloves and orange peel.

Add a red ribbon and a little gift tag to make it even more special!

And here is a short video showing you some of the decorations I made :)

I hope you enjoyed this post. Do you like making your own Christmas decorations? Will you give any of these a go?
