Starting My Philips Lumea Trial!

Hair removal is a big problem for me. I am quite lazy when it comes to shaving and waxing, so I always look for long lasting solutions to make my life that little bit easier. That's why I couldn't be more excited about trying the Philips Lumea IPL Hair Removal System*. I will be giving it a go for the next 8 weeks and sharing my progress, updates and final thoughts on the blog, via Twitter and Instagram.

I have never tried laser hair removal in a salon, so it's my first experience with this kind of treatment, but I feel comfortable using a personal IPL device at home to be honest. I actually tried it for the first time yesterday to see if it's painful or uncomfortable and I seriously couldn't feel any discomfort at all, even on the highest setting. I will go into more details in my future posts, but I just wanted to let you know that it's not scary at all.  I've heard some horror stories about IPL, but I am very pleased with the device so far and I am very excited to use it again and again, until I can notice the results.

I started using Philips Lumea on my legs, underarms and upper lip. The main area I want to focus on are definitely my legs though, because they are seriously hairy. I apologise, if it's going to get a bit TMI, but I feel like hair removal isn't discussed on blogs often enough and I personally don't mind talking about it and sharing my experience. After all, we all have body hair, right? There is nothing to be ashamed of. Let's admit it.... most of us have a little tache :) I normally pluck unwanted facial hair, but I can't wait to get rid of it for good or at least make it more sparse or finer.

I mentioned that hair removal is a big problem for me. The reason why I dislike the full process so much is because my skin is quite sensitive when it comes to shaving. This includes razors, creams, waxing and epilation. I simply get a rash immediately after removing the hair or when the hair starts to grow back. The rash isn't attractive at all and can be very uncomfortable on the bikini area or under my arms, so laser hair removal is my last resort. The only thing I currently use is an electric Philips shaver (I mentioned it on the blog in the past) and that's what I used  to prep my skin for the treatment with Philips Lumea.

And here is my: 'I am sooo excited to try laser hair removal' face :) haha. Seriously, I can't wait to share my progress and results with you. I am not expecting miracles, but I will be happy to simply slow down the growth of my hair. After all, shaving every other day is a big chore and as a busy mum of a very active toddler, I simply don't have time for that. That's why I am trying Philips Lumea - the secret to beautiful hair free skin, for up to 2 months.

Have you ever tried laser hair removal?

  3. i'm so exited to see how you get on with this.
If it turns out to be good then I think I might have to splash out on it myself

  4. i was going at a dermatologist for hair removal to my bikini but it was too expensive and too painfull!
cant wait to see ur next posts about this!

  5. This looks like such a good idea, I hate hair removal with shaving and waxing too (for one my self-waxing experience was a complete fail haha) I'm just overall far too lazy to keep it consistent - especially in the winter. I can't wait to see how this works out for you in the longer term.

  6. Very interested to see your results - added this to my Amazon wishlist a while a go but I was feeling sceptical so hadn't bought it as yet! I have had a course of IPL but felt I should have had another to really see permanent effects so looking forward to seeing what how you get on :)

  7. I look forward to seeing how you get on. x

  8. I can't wait to see how you get on with this, the idea just seems great. I'm a rather lazy when it comes to hair removal so this would be ideal.

  9. I can't wait to see your results. After many painful years of electrolysis on my top lip I succumbed to VPL on my face (just over a year ago). It's by no means cheap at £300 for 5 sessions every 4-5-6 weeks (depending on hair growth). I have started to see results with just a few odd hairs growing back. But I have now started the journey on the rest of my face!! 2 of my 3 daughters also suffer with this dark hair growth and I await your results to see if it's worth purchasing something like this. :)
