Suncare Essentials For The Full Family.

I am currently enjoying a seaside break and the weather is absolutely beautiful, so I finally got a chance to get a tan :) I am lucky to get a nice colour easily with my skin tone, but I always make sure to protect my skin from harmful rays when I am out and about or actually sunbathing on purpose :)

The most important part of sun protection for me is covering my full face and neck in factor 50. I am using Vichy Capital Soleil SPF50 BB Cream* (£15.50) at the moment and I loooove it. It is lightweight, non sticky and it works well under makeup.

If I decide to expose the skin on my body, I apply Riemann's P10 orP20 to make sure I am protected all day. It is a waterproof formula that lasts  for 10 hours, it is very lightweight, sinks into the skin quickly and doesn't feel greasy at all. I absolutely love it and I use it on me and my husband.

P20 isn't something I would use on my baby boy though, because I prefer to use more natural products on him, like Apivita. They are free from Parabens, Alcohol, Silicones, Mineral Oil, Propylene Glycol, Ethanolamines, Colorants, Phthalates etc. I apply Apivita SPF30 Face & Body Milk allover Zachary's body and Apivita SPF50 Face Cream For Sensitive Skin allover his face and neck. I obviously reapply it, if needed, but I generally make sure not to let Zachary spend too much time in the sun. I also make him wear a hat at all times and protect his skin with clothing. Kids DO NOT NEED a tan in my opinion and I really hate that attitude. They NEED protection!

I am not sure how you feel about sunbathing, but I am not really a massive fan of it anymore, so to get a little bit of colour quickly and avoid having pasty legs, I have been using Steve Whatley's Zhuzh!Tan Accelerator* (£10.99). It is spray that boosts the natural pigment in your skin to deliver a quicker, more intense, longer lasting tan. I apply this spray before SPF and I think it actually works. I got a nice tan after just 1-2 hours of tanning for 3 days, which is fab. I tan easily though, so it might take longer for you.

To nourish my skin and add a gorgeous glow, I use shimmering body oils and the one I took with me this time is the Yves Rocher Shimmering Monoi Oil* (£14.50, £7.50). It smells lovely and makes my skin look beautiful with the subtle gold shimmer.

The last thing I love to use during my holidays is a soothing product. I find most gels not hydrating enough, so I tend to stick to cream formulas. The Vichy Capital Soleil After Sun SOS Balm* (£11.50) is absolutely fantastic and it helps to repair and nourish my skin.

To be perfectly honest, I never burn red, probably because I am slightly obsessed with sun protection (and due to my skin tone), but I think that longs you are being sensible with sun exposure/tanning, you will be fine. Everything in moderation is ok. Burning your skin ISN'T!

PS. I highly recommend reading Andy's posts about bad suncare habits HERE and watching his video about sun protection  HERE.
