Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette Review

I didn't want to review this beautiful palette when I first got it, because it was limited edition and it sold out pretty quickly, leaving many  makeup addicts slightly disappointed (even devastated). I almost missed out on it myself. That's why I had this review saved in my drafts ready to be published when the palette is available for UK customers again. Well... you can probably guess that is now back in stock and available via Space NK. YAY!

Since getting my mitts on this beaut last year, I have been reaching for it almost every day, neglecting my Ambient Lighting Powder compact in Luminous Light, because I find the selection of three powders more versatile. You won't regret spending your hard earn pennies on this palette, I promise!

The palette features three of the Ambient Lighting powders, including their best-selling shades (Dim Light and Radiant Light) and a limited edition shade (Incandescent Light). All the powders are stunning and add a nice glow to my face, while capturing, diffusing and softening the way light reflects on the skin. The effect is incredible! The formula is paraben, talc, fragrance, nano-particle and gluten free as well and contains 'micron-size, soft-focus particles that refract light and create transparent coverage'. Each powder is meant to be suitable for all skin tones, but I think that the darkest shade would work well as a bronzer on fair skin.

Dim Light is a neutral beige shade, perfect as an allover setting powder. It makes my complexion look glowy and radiant and it helps to keep my foundation in place. Incandescent Light is more of a highlight and it is a very light beige colour. I like using it on the tops of my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and cupids bow. It is also great for setting under eye concealer. I use it allover my face occasionally as well. It adds a subtle illuminating effect, without too much visible shimmer.  Radiant Light is the darkest shade in the palette and I love using it when I have a tan or I simply apply it on top of a bronzer or a blusher. It is a warm golden beige shade and it looks absolutely beautiful on the skin. As you can see on the swatches below, the first shade has absolutely no shimmer and the two other colours have a tiny bit of micro shimmer - only visible with flash and in direct sunlight.

The texture of the powders is soft and velvety and very easy to blend and I like applying them with my Real Techniques Blush Brush or a small powder brush. I would love to get my hands on the Hourglass Ambient Powder Brush though.

The packaging is really nice as well and the compact comes with a big mirror inside. If you want to treat yourself to a really luxurious makeup product, you should definitely consider this palette. It is perfect!

I also got a mini Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer with the palette, but  I am not sure if you can still get it with your purchase. Mine was included in the same box. It is a light water resistant formula with SPF15 that creates a perfect canvas for your makeup.

You can buy the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette from Space NK.
