New budget makeup brand: Makeup Revolution

When it comes to budget makeup brands, there is a big gap on the market and my drugstore favourites are not as cheap as I would like them to be anymore. Thankfully, the recent launch of Makeup Revolution blew me away and I am really impressed with the quality, price and variety of their products. There is something fro everyone, including purse friendly dupes of popular eye shadow palettes, stunning lip colours, a dreamy foundation, baked blushers, highlighters and more! Most products cost between £1 to £4. Bargain!

Starting with the base, The One Foundation* (£4.00) blew my socks off! I was confused about the runny texture at first, but once I started to blend it, I fell in love. It is very silky, extremely light and gives a gorgeous matte finish. It offers light to medium coverage and you can build up a couple of layers for full coverage too (if you wish), without getting a horrible cakey effect. I am seriously impressed. It lasts on the skin for 4-8 hours, depending on the amount of product I use, but If you set it with a good powder, it will last much longer. I adore the texture of it and I think it is great value for money. I will definitely repurchase it in a darker shade for summer. Apparently, it is a dupe for the Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation!

As you can see, The One Concealer*(£3.00) looks very similar to the Benefit Fake Up Concealer, which I haven't tried yet. The formula is light and slightly waxy, with the outside layer being super hydrating. It is perfect for those who have dry skin around their eyes. The coverage it gives is very light, but it's enough to brighten my under eye area and reduce the appearance of dark circles for my simple, natural everyday look. The full coverage claim isn't true, but I really like this product. Set with a lightweight powder, it stays in place for 8 hours, with very minimal creasing and fading.

The Baked Blusher* (£2.50) in shade 'Loved Me The Best' is absolutely stunning and it is a dream to apply and blend. I am obsessed with baked formulas, because they have a hint of shimmer, but don't make me look like a glitter ball :) The Pink Lights Highlighter* (£3.00) is also beautiful and the lilac colour is very unique. I don't own anything like it and I will get a lot of use out of it, because it goes perfectly with pink blushers. It's like a powder version of Benefit High Beam, with a slight lilac sheen. It is quite subtle too and doesn't have shimmer particles. It just adds a gorgeous glow to the face and reflects light beautifully. I already ordered the two remaining shades - Gold and Peach.

The lipsticks reminds me of MUA offerings - the packaging, the formula, the price :) 'Rebel With Cause' is a super pigmented burgundy colour and it is a dupe for MAC Rebel. I love it! It glides onto the lips like a dream, it is hydrating and long lasting. Perfect!

Ok, let's move onto the most pigmented eye colour I have ever tried - the Awesome Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow* (£4.00) in shade Emerald Goddess. It can be used straight from the pan or mixed with the liquid primer. It is stunning! One layer on the lid provides insane colour payoff and the formula stays on the lid until you remove it! I can't wait to get my mitts on all the remaining colours, especially the Rose Gold, Copper and Platinum. They look incredible!

I am also impressed with the Single Eyeshadows* (£1.00 each). Shade Touch Me is a perfect allover the lid colour and can also be used under the brow bone. The texture is nice and buttery and it reminds me of matte Urban Decay shadows from Naked Basics Palette. The fallout is minimal and the lasting power with a primer is fantastic- up to 12 hours.  Shade 'Pink It Is' is more powdery than Touch Me and it has more fallout, but... I have been using it as a matte blush and it is perfect!

The star of the show is the Iconic 3 Palette* (£4.00) - a dupe for Naked 3. I own the Urban Decay offering and it is much better in quality, but... if you can't afford it or simply don't feel like spending almost £40.00 on an eye shadow palette, you should definitely get Makeup Revolution's Iconic 3. The eye shadow colours are very similar to the ones in Naked 3, the formula is easy to apply, nicely pigmented and easy to blend and most shades last on the lids for 8-10 hours. There's a nice mixture of shimmer, pearl and matte finishes and you can't go wrong with it! I am glad that there are cheap dupes of Naked palettes available on the market, because it will make some girls think twice before buying a fake UD product, which is very dangerous!!! Let me know, if you would like to see a comparison of Naked 3 and Iconic 3.

The Acid Brights Palette*(£4.00) is a cheeky dupe of the Sleek I-Divine Acid Palette, but 50% cheaper. I had a look at swatches of Sleek's offering and they look slightly more pigmented and less powdery, but Makeup Revolution did pretty good and if you want something cheap to use for a crazy neon look, you can't go wrong with a £4.00 palette! Perfect for festivals.

My least favourite products from the range are the nail polishes, simply because I switched to formulas free from nasties and I have been using them for the past year or so. Makeup Revolution Nail Polishes cost £1.00 per bottle and there is plenty of shades to choose from. The two colours above are You Need Love* and Cool Days*. Both shades needed 3 coats to provide opaque coverage and I found the pink shade a little bit gloopy/tricky to apply, but for £1.00, you can't really moan, can you? I imagine, that these are hit and miss and some shades will be better than others.

Swatches of all the products mentioned (left to right): The One Foundation in shade 8, The One Concealer in shade light, Lipstick in shade Rebel With Cause, Single Eyeshadow Touch Me, Single Eyeshadow Pink It Is, Baked Blusher Loved Me The Best, Highlighter in Pink Lights)

I am wearing the foundation, concealer, blusher, highlighter, lipstick and Iconic 3 Palette on the photo above.

Overall, fantastic budget brand with most products being absolutely amazing value for money. I already placed an order for more highlighters, concealers and loos pigments.
