Magnitone Pulsar Brush Review

Magnitone Pulsar* (RRP £129.99)

I mentioned this brush in one of my Christmas Gift  Guides and my December Favourites post, but it is finally time to review it properly and tell you more about it. I was kindly sent the Magnitone Pulsar brush back in November and started using it immediately, but I had a bad reaction to a MAC foundation and got tons of breakouts, so had to stop using the brush and let my skin recover from the allergic reaction. Once my skin was back to normal, I started using it again and... I absolutely love it.

What is Magnitone Pulsar?
It is a daily skin cleansing and toning system for face & body to effectively cleanse, refresh and stimulate your skin, helping to give it a wonderful natural youthful glow. It is waterproof and can be used in the bath and shower and one quick charge (75 min)  of the tool gives enough power for 3 weeks of everyday use! I know that most people use face brushes with foaming cleansers, but I have been using mine with cream formulas (Pai, Liz Earle, Antipodes). I simply remove my makeup first and do my second stage of cleansing with Magnitone for 1-2 minutes, using a variation of settings.

There are four settings too choose from. Each mode works at a different speed:

- Sensitive Setting- for sensitive skin, or sensitive areas of your face. Works best with the sensitive brush.
-PulseLift Massage Mode - this setting helps to improve blood circulation and I have been using it on scarred areas of my face and neck. It feels very pleasant and really stimulates the skin.
-Exfoliate - I don't use this setting every day, only when I have to get rid of some dry patches or when my skin is looking a bit dull. I prefer using the sensitive mode for normal cleansing.
-Deep Cleanse- I use this mode on my T-zone to get rid of all the impurities and reduce the size of pores.

I am not going to lie, the list of amazing benefits of using Magnitone for just 7 Days made me super excited, but were all the claims true? Let's get started!

1. More effective deep cleansing and removal of impurities - Well, after just one use, I couldn't believe how clean my skin was. I don't get the same effect/feeling after using my normal cleansing methods - muslin cloth or flannel. Magnitone glides softly across the skin hundreds of times per second, gently lifting all dirt and oily impurities out of the pores. You would be surprised how clean your skin can be, when you use a good quality face brush.

2.Can help to increase collagen level in skin -  After about a month of regular use, I noticed that my skin became more plump and visibly firmer. It is probably down to some of the skincare I have been using as well, but the brush really helps to prep the skin for all the goodness you can get from serums and creams.

3. Softer, smoother and clearer looking skin tone - Oh, yes! Softer and smoother skin after just one use and more even skin tone after about 2-3 weeks of daily use. I noticed that any fresh scars don't take too long to heal and fade pretty quickly.

4. Noticeable increase in blood circulation to the skin - Definitely true, because my scars started to fade much quicker, which means that the blood circulation has increased.

5. Firmer, tighter feeling skin texture - Just like I mentioned before, it took about a month for me to notice improvement in this department. I am only 27, so I assume that the older you are, the better results you will see.

6. Helps reduce appearance of visible pores - One of my main concerns! I saw a difference after just one use and after a week, my pores were seriously reduced and my skin felt soooo much smoother.

7. Can help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles - I can't tell you about this claim, because I don't really have any visible wrinkles yet (except my forehead - I frown too much).

8.Gentle exfoliation of dry skin for silkier arms and legs - I didn't expect to use the body brush too often, but... I started getting little bumps on my arms and thighs (very odd) and the body brush helped me to get rid of them really quickly.

9. Helps reduce razor rash and irritation after hair removal - I am not sure about that, but it definitely prevents ingrown hair. I like using the body brush a couple of times a week, after epilating my legs (ouch!).

10. Enhanced moisture and nutrient absorption of your regular skin products (SPF, self-tan, moisturisers) - Definitely! My skincare performs so much better, since I started using Magnitone and... fake tan lasts longer and fades more evenly.

The design of the brush is simple and the size and shape are perfect to fit comfortably into the palm of my hand. The charging/docking station plugs into the wall and you can keep it on your bathroom shelf, but I keep mine in the cupboard, because I don't like things collecting dust. The brush needs charging every 3-4 weeks if you use it daily, so you don't have to keep it plugged in. Magnitone is super easy to use and comes with two buttons: the on/off button and a mode button to change speed settings.  There are three different brushes you can get. Two types comes with the brush and you can also purchase sensitive brush heads, if you have sensitive skin.

Active Clean Brush*
This brush was designed to actively remove dirt & oily impurities from deep pores. You can use it daily to wash your face, or remove makeup. I use it on my T-zone in the morning on the Deep Cleanse setting or allover my face, when I want to exfoliate properly.

Sensitive Brush*
After my allergic reaction to MAC Studio Fix, I started using the sensitive brush, to make sure I don't irritate my skin. It is softer than the Active Clean Brush and more gentle on the skin.  It can be used on your face and body. I use it for daily cleansing at night time to prep my skin for my night time products.

Body Cleanse Brush*
The bristles on this brush are shorter and stronger, so don't mistake it for a face brush :) The Body Cleanse Brush was designed to help exfoliate dry and dead skin cells, especially on rough areas. it works wonders on my knees and elbows, or any patches of old fake tan :) Just like I mentioned before, I also used it a lot on my arms and thighs, when I got hundreds of tiny little bumps under the skin. Since then, I kept using it twice a week to make sure my skin stays smooth and soft.

What is my verdict? Would I recommend Magnitone Pulsar?

From my experience, it is a fantastic tool and it didn't break me out or irritate my skin. I noticed immediate results and long term benefits of using the brush, with clearer, brighter, firmer and more radiant looking skin. My scars started fading quicker and my skintone looks more even. I don't use the brush every day at the moment, only a couple of times a week, but when my skin is looking dull and lacks radiance, I go back to using it daily for 5-7 days to give my skin a boost.

I would recommend Magnitone, if you want a clearer, more radiant complexion, if you want to get rid of small imperfections and reduce the size of pores. I wouldn't recommend it, if you you have active acne, because the brush might irritate it or spread bacteria. I get hormonal breakouts on my neck and jawline and I simply don't use the brush on those areas, when I have any fresh spots, because I don't want to spread them.

Overall, I am very impressed with Magnitone and every time I use it, I see a difference in my skin. Just like I said before, it is not a tool I would recommend to someone with active acne, but if you have  congested skin, acne scars and your skin lacks radiance, this brush can really transform your complexion.  It is a great alternative to the more expensive Clarisonic (I think it is better, it has more options) and it is definitely much better than the cheaper options (like no7, Sigma, etc).

You can buy it from Boots.com & Superdrug.com full price, or on offer (£87.00) from Lookfantastic.com.
