Brand Spotlight: Crown Brush

My brush collection seems to be growing really fast and I am always on the lookout for new tools to help me perfect my makeup application skills :) Crown Brush are a brand totally new to me, but I know that their brushes are very popular in UK, so I couldn't wait to give them a go.

The biggest and most expensive brush from the bunch is the C424 Elite Soft Powder Brush* (£16.49). It looks and feels very luxurious and it is made with a mixture of capra and goat hair. Most of my brushes are synthetic, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but I quite like it. It isn't as soft as my Real Techniques Powder Brush, but it doesn't feel scratchy. It is perfect for applying loose and pressed powders and I love using it with my Guerlain Meteorites Pearls.

When it comes to contouring and blusher application, choosing the right brush and technique is the key to a flawless finish. The C405 Contour Brush* (£8.29) is ideal for applying and blending cheek colour, but I also like using it to define my cheekbones with a cool toned bronzer. Remember to start from the outside of your face on the ear level, bringing the colour down under the cheekbone. This way, you will be able to create a natural looking shadow. Just like the powder brush, the C405 Contour brush is made with goat hair and it feels relatively soft.

The C433 Pro Blending Brush* (£6.09) is a great dupe for MAC 217, slightly wider and with shorter bristles. It also feels less dense, but it does a smilar job. It is perfect for applying and blending powder eye shadows and I really like using it, when my 217 is dirty :) It is a bit scratchy though.

My favourite brush from the selection is the SS025 Brow Duo Brush* (£3.59). One side features an angled brow/liner brush and the other side is a simple spoolie. Both of these are essential for creating a perfect brow! I simply brush through my brows with the spoolie to make them look less messy and fill them in with a brow powder or dark brown eyeshadow, using the angled brow brush. The quality of the brush is really good and I can't recommend it enough.

The last Crown Brush product I have been trying out is the Make-up Brush Cleaner* (£4.99). I wash my brushes once a week with an antibacterial brush soap, but having the spray is ideal, if I have to give some of my brushes a quick clean in between washes. You spray the formula onto a bit of tissue (I prefer kitchen roll) and swirl your brush around until it's clean. You can use the spray directly on the brush as well. The formula dissolves product build up and grime easily and doesn't leave the brush wet, so you can use it immediately after cleaning. I only use the spray on small brushes though and wash the bigger ones with soap.
