Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation Review

I am pretty sure that this foundation doesn't need an introduction :) It is the one and only Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. Many bloggers and youtubers rave about it and again... I fell for the hype. Even the £33 price tag didn't put me off. Is it worth the money and all the hype? Let's find out...

First of all, the packaging is very practical, but not too fancy. I like gorgeous bottles with pumps, but there is nothing more annoying than not being able to get every single drop of your expensive product out of a glass bottle or worse - smashing the glass bottle. The simple squeeze tube is the best choice for someone as clumsy as me :)

You get 35ml of product, which is 5 ml more than an average foundation and just like I mentioned before, it will cost you £33.00. It sounds like a lot of money, but... you need the tiniest amount of product to cover your full face, so the 35 ml tube will last for a very long time.

The consistency of Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation is quite thick and it has a very silky texture. It is a dream to apply and gives very good coverage, buildable from medium to full. The finish it gives is almost airbrushed in real life, but it also photographs beautifully. I blend it into my skin with a buffing brush or use my fingers, if I don't have any clean brushes left. It also works really well with beauty blenders and sponges.

I like using it on top of Laura Mercier Radiance Primer and setting it with Bourjois Java Powder or Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. You can see the finish I achieved on the photo above. Set with a powder, it lasts on my face all day, unless I exercise :) For reference, my skin is quite dry at the moment, with a slightly oily t-zone and Silk Creme sits on my skin beautifully, without sliding off or looking cakey.

The shade I got is Cashew Beige and unfortunately it is slightly too dark for me. I wish I went a shade lighter, but hey... I can always use a bit of fake tan to make it work. I am very pleased with the formula, the lasting power and the finish. I am definitely a Silk Creme convert and I am dying to buy a lighter shade to mix with Cashew Beige :) I have been naughty though and ordered other products, so I will have to wait :)

Overall, Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation is definitely worth the hype and it works really well with my skin type. I am not sure if it works for oily skin, so please let me know in the comments below, if you tried it.
