Elf Highlighters and Blushers: reviews + swatches

I recently placed a little e.l.f. order and it consisted of some highlighting products and blushers. Let's just say that I have a highlighter obsession and my collection got slightly out of control :) haha. I just love a bit of shimmer. I bought two of the Allover Colour Sticks, two Shimmering Facial Whips and two Baked Blushers. If you follow me on instagram, you will know that some products were disappointing and some were absolutely gorgeous.  I also accidentally found dupes for MAC Mineralize Skin Finishes in Soft & Gentle and Stereo Rose!

ELF Baked Blush in Pinktastic and Peachy Cheeky £3.75 each (studio range)

I love MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle and I use it very often, but I can't really see myself buying all the shades and limited editions they offer. That's why I decided to try a budget option/dupe of the MAC MSF from Elf. I didn't expect an amazing, finely milled and creamy formula or incredible pigmentation, but to be honest... the ELF Baked Blushers are lovely and quite similar to MAC offerings.

Pinktastic is a dupe for Soft & Gentle and it looks very similar swatched and exactly the same once it is on my cheeks. If you don't want to pay £22 for 10g of MAC MSF, you can get the 6g ELF version for only £3.75.  The formula is slightly more powdery and less pigmented, but it lasts on the skin really well and I am very pleased with the way it looks on my cheeks. It adds a bit of shimmer, without making me look like a glitter ball :)

The other shade - Peachy Cheeky is a blusher/highlighter and you can use it on its own or with a lighter shade, like Pinktastic. The formula is easy to apply and blend,  nicely pigmented and long lasting. Think budget version of MAC MSF. It looks very, very similar to MAC's Limited Edition Stereo Rose and looks stunning on tanned skin. It also reminds me of my NEW CID I-Glow in Coral Crush, which is also a dupe for Stereo Rose and NARS Orgasm.

I would definitely recommend the Studio Blushers - the formula feels and looks much  more expensive than £3.75! BARGAIN!

ELF Shimmering Facial Whip in Spotlight and Golden Peach £1.50 each (9.5g)

I love using liquid/cream highlighters, because they look very natural and you can mix them with foundation to add a bit of radiance to your complexion. At £1.50, the Shimmering Facial Whips are a steal and left me very impressed! They are easy to apply and feel very similar to Benefit High Beam and Sun Beam, but are slightly easier to blend.

Spotlight is a pearly, frosted white colour, but once blended it adds a nice touch of radiance and a natural looking glow.  I need the tiniest amount of product for the tops of my cheekbones, nose and cupids bow and I am ready to go. Shade Golden Peach looks lovely on tanned skin and adds a beautiful golden glow to my cheeks. It is a bronzer, blusher and highlighter in one and I adore it!

The consistency of Shimmering Facial Whips doesn't feel sticky at all, which is something I was worried about. They feel comfortable on, didn't leave my skin greasy and didn't break me out. It is love!!!

ELF All Over Colour Stick in Spotlight and Golden Peach £1.50 each

The only disappointing products from the bunch are the All Over Colour Sticks. The shades I got are: Spotlight and Golden Peach. I imagined them to be stick versions of the Shimmering Whips, but they are not my cup of tea at all. They feel and look like shimmery, tinted glue sticks, or cheap, sticky lip balms. They also have a very strong scent, which confused me a lot, because the sticks are meant to be suitable for your eyes, lips and face. I wouldn't put something so heavily scented near my eyes.

Shade spotlight looks like a white lip balm with a bit of shimmer, doesn't look flattering on my face or lips and feels super sticky. Shade Golden Peach doesn't actually look that bad in the swatch, but it makes my cheeks look greasy and leaves a sticky film allover my skin. The packaging  feels very cheap too (I can't moan though- they cost£1.50). I won't be using these again.

Overall, I am happy with most of my purhcases, especially the Shimmering Facial Whips. They are amazing value for money and I will be buying more shades in the future. The Baked Blushers are gorgeous too and the shades I got are dupes of MAC MSF's - big bonus here. If you wanted to give the All Over Colour Sticks a go- don't ;)
