I am a big fan of beauty blenders and use them to apply my foundation quite often, especially if I want to achieve a flawless finish. The original beauty blender is really expensive, but...Real Techniques affordable version means that you will be able to get your mitts on a good quality makeup sponge without breaking the bank. The cheap ebay ones usually feel like rubber and are a nightmare to clean.
Like all Real Techniques products, the Miracle Complexion Sponge was designed by the incredibly talented (and gorgeous) makeup artist Samantha Chapman. I adore Real Techniques brushes, so my expectations were really high. After a week of testing the sponge with different foundations, I can honestly say that it is really good.
My favourite foundation at the moment is Vichy Dermablend and applied wit the Miracle Complexion Sponge, it gives the most beautiful finish and great coverage. To apply my foundation, I wet the sponge and wait for it to expand, squeeze any excess water out and dry with a towel- it should feel slightly damp, but not wet. I put some foundation on my cheeks forehead and chin and start dabbing it on with the sponge. It is very easy and pleasant, as the sponge is super soft and bouncy :)
What is different about the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge? The shape of it is unique and features three different surfaces, including a rounded side, precision tip and a flat edge - everything you need to achieve the perfect base. The rounded side is great for dabbing the product allover your face, precision tip is perfect for concealing blemishes and the flat edge is great for applying foundation or concealer around the nose and eyes. You can also use it to apply powders, but be careful not to overdo it.
To wash the sponge, I use an antibacterial brush soap and it does the job really well. I find this sponge much easier to clean than my other blenders, because the texture is slightly different.
Overall, I really like the sponge and I would recommend it to those who like a flawless finish.
