My Favourite Nail and Cuticle Oils

If you read my blog regularly, you will know that I always complain about weak nails and dry cuticles.
I am one of those people with paper thin nails and no matter what I do, I will never have strong nails. I can make them slightly stronger, if I take supplements and use oils and treatments on a regular basis, but as soon as they grow past a certain length, they break easily.

If somebody has long, strong nails, most people will assume that they look after them really well, use cuticle oils religiously etc. Well... I can tell you that sometimes it isn't the case. They  usually have strong nails naturally and don't have to do anything special to keep them this way. I was recently asked by a relative with super strong nails about the purpose of cuticle oil...  It says it all, doesn't it? We have to remember that when it comes to nails, strong doesn't necessarily mean healthy and healthy doesn't always mean strong.

It is really heartbreaking to know, that I do everything in my power to have strong nails and it isn't happening - we are talking about nail treatments, oils, vitamins, supplements, healthy eating, plenty of oily fish in my diet etc... You get the idea.

I am not saying that I have horrible nails. They look nice and healthy, unless I do some serious housework without gloves on.  I just wish they were stronger, so I can wear nail colour on them for a couple of days without worrying about it chipping within 24 hours.

I don't give up easily, so I am keeping up the good work with my nails, making sure to give them TLC every single day. My favourite way to do it is massaging my nails and cuticles with various oils. I have a big selection of them, but I wanted to share some new additions to my nail care routine and one of my all time favourites as well.

I have been using the OPI Avoplex Oil (£14.30) for over a year and I am on my second bottle. You can see that it is getting a lot of love :) It is my go to oil and I use it daily, before bed. It is enriched with vitamin E, avocado, sunflower, sesame and kukui nut oils and helps to hydrate, replenish and restore moisture. It keeps my cuticles soft and nourished and I will definitely buy it again.

I bought the Nubar Passion Fruit Oil (£6.75) when I was on the 100 day spending ban, because I needed a new cuticle oil. It seemed like a lovely product and I am really glad that I purchased it. It's passion fruit scent is absolutely beautiful and it makes me want to use it on my nails all the time. It is enriched with jojoba oils, bran oil, safflower seed oil, ceramium run rum extract, morus alba root extract and mulberry root extract. It is not only recommended to keep your cuticles in good condition, but also as a way to get rid of inflamed skin, psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis.

The newest addition to my little collection is the Viridian Ultimate Beauty Organic Nail & Cuticle Oil* (£12.95). I was introduced to Viridian's wonderful supplements recently and I am now addicted to their Beauty Oil.
This cuticle oil has the most incredible citrusy scent and feels very luxurious. With it's organic blend of soothing waxes, essential oils and botanical extracts, it moisturises, strengthens and supports healthy growth of nails. I have been using it for 2 weeks and I really like it.  The bottle has a pipette applicator, making the application of oil easy and hassle free. Just like the Nubar Oil, the Viridian blend has anti fungal properties and helps to heal infections and irritation. It contains jojoba oil, horsetail extract, marigold extract, organic lemon myrtle essential oil, rosemary extract and high-oleic sunflower oil.

The last cuticle care product I really like is the Dr Hauschka Neem Nail Oil Pen* (£15.95). I received it in the March LuxBox and I don't leave the house without it! When my cuticle start to look a bit dry, I use this nail pen on the go. It dispenses the perfect amount of product, making it a totally mess free solution.
It contains peanut oil, flower and leaf extracts and apricot oil and has a nice, subtle scent.
I also like the clever lid, designed to push back cuticles.

I love looking after my nails and I am quite happy with their appearance, but I am hoping to see them grow much stronger in the future. I am not expecting miracles though :)
