100 DAY SPENDING BAN

Hi everyone!

I would like wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

New Year means changes and I really want to challenge myself in 2013!
My biggest problem is spending too much money on beauty products and clothing and it HAS TO END!!!

I have seen many bloggers doing spending bans in 2012, including lovely Sophia and I thought that it will be a great idea to actually start a spending ban and pay off one of my credit cards.

I know that January is probably the worst time to start a spending ban, with all the sales and bargains in every single store on the planet, but... I like challenges!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obviously, everybody can have a different set of rules but the main point of the ban is to stop buying beauty products, clothes, accessories etc for 100 days. Here are my rules:

1. I am not allowed to buy any beauty products including: makeup, skincare, haircare, body care.
I have enough makeup to last me for years and enough essentials to keep me going for a couple of months, so there is NO EXCUSES!
-IF I run out of an essential product in my beauty regime- Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish or Toner etc - I will have to use up my samples first and move onto a different cream cleanser or toner in my stash.
Using up products is one of my 2013 resolutions, so I will do my best to use up as much as I can before repurchasing anything.

2. I am not allowed to buy any clothes, jewellery, bags etc... Unless I seriously need new underwear or other ESSENTIALS, but I don't think it will happen.

3. I am not allowed to buy books, home decor, new bedding  and other bits and bobs I DO NOT NEED!

4. I am not allowed to buy crisps, chocolate and other unhealthy snacks! I am not allowed to buy any takeaways or eat out, unless it is a special occasion.

5. The only things I am allowed to buy are birthday gifts, Valentine's Day gift for my husband, essentials like toothpaste, cotton wool pads etc, groceries (obviously).

6. With all the money I am able to save I will pay off one of my credit cards.

7. I will try to sell some of my handbags, shoes and clothes on a blog sale and ebay to help me with paying off my debt.

Disclaimer: I am allowed to spend vouchers sent to me by PR companies and I will always disclose it in my post.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would probably give up easily if I was doing the ban on my own, soooo....
I asked on Twitter if some lovelies would like to join in, so we can support each other during the challenge and the response was amazing! I was struggling to keep up with the mentions :) haha

  3. Thank you for the mention Sandra :) I think you will be fine doing this! You like to buy pretty things as much as me but you are also one of the more motivated people I know in the blogging World so I have ever faith you can do it! I wish you and every last one of the girls joining you on the challenge the very best of luck! I hope you will do updates on the challenge :) I too am thinking of doing a challenge again this year, I am just trying to work out what challenge! I may make one of my own, but I definitely need to reign in the spending. I have SO much makeup, I really should start using it up. You should think about doing empties posts - I know some people find them pointless but for me it helped push me to use the things I already had. So it may help you! And I hope you manage to pay off your debt through this challenge! :)

Good luck Sandra, and all the girls taking part xo

  8. I agree with Grace - it's daunting but exciting all at once and I'm perspiring at the thought of what I'm about to attempt but going to do give it a darn good go! Thankyou for the mention Sandra! x

  9. Yay Sandra! When you left me a comment about doing this a few months ago, I knew you could, and I still know you can! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress, as well as Grace's and Anne's. You all can do it, just set your mind to it and don't give up! One of the hardest things for me to push through when I did this challenge was the limited edition products that would be gone by the time the challenge was over. But, I pushed through and it really does feel amazing when you complete the challenge. Trust me! If you need any advice, I'm here!

  10. Good Luck Darling! I want to start monitoring my spending and set budgets for myself each month instead of doing a full on ban. But I cannot wait to hear how this experience goes <3

  22. Best of luck! I know I should try and steer clear of sales but I've decided to buy an 'adult' wardrobe rather than teen clothes as being 26 I should be dressing more demure lol. Will be following your progress :)
